A tall man, with horridly long claws attached to each of his fingers. The realization hit you like a brick; this was..some sort of sick game. And you found yourself straight in the center of it.
A piece of you wanted to run after him, wanting to help Norton get away. Though the bigger, smarter part of you kept you still as your heart screamed out in your chest. Just as you managed to move your hand to clutch your chest in an attempt to stop your pounding heart, it looked at you. Its lanky body stopping to turn in your direction. You gasped softly as you took in the fact that this thing had no actual features once it turned its head to you, no eyes, no nose, no mouth, nothing. You began trembling softly, tears welling in your eyes as you took a step back, your body unfreezing for a moment.
It took a step toward you, moving through the trees.
You took yet another step back. Your eyes widened with fear as your heart beat louder and louder.
It took one more step towards you.
Tears began falling as you prepared yourself to turn and run, placing your foot carefully as you took another step back.
Though just as you turned slightly away from the creature, you heard someone, presumably Norton, pick something up and throw it at the monster, forcing its attention away from you. You jumped softly, your foot failing you as you slipped and fell onto your backside.
"Ah..!"
Your voice finally came out as you groaned quietly, rubbing your back as you got up and brushed the dirt off of your clothes. You immediately looked around for Norton, or the monster. Though to your disappointment and appeal, they were nowhere to be found. And once you realized the monster was gone, your heart calmed as well. You sighed sharply, wiping your eyes as you turned back to the machine, remembering what Norton had told you before the "match".
"Listen. Just decode. Don't worry about the hunter, I'll take care of them. Just. Decode."
Just decode. The words run out through your head as you observed the machine
Your mind went back to the doctor as soon as you saw the keyboard on the machine, remembering that she was typing something on it before she left you.How rude..
You figured she had just seen the monster before you had, and if you were honest, you would've done the same so you couldn't blame her. You sighed sharply as you stepped in front of the machine, observing it once again.
How the hell did you decode this?
You decided on just going along with whatever the small screen said, and began typing away.
You didn't quite understand what you were doing, but you were just doing something. Sooner or later a faint beeping sound emanated from the machine. You smiled brightly, this meant you were doing something right!
For a moment, you forgot the situation you were in, and focused on how happy you felt to be helping at least a bit.
As you continued at the keyboard, you had pieced together a good bit of what was happening. Basically what had happened in the racecourse with Orpheus;A monster would chase you, all while you had to decode a certain amount of machines to open the gate at the front. Though, you were certain there even was a gate. You sighed sharply as you continued clicking and clacking at the keys. You had to get this done so you could at least check.
A few minutes went by, and those minutes were the longer few minutes you've ever experienced. You had heard multiple screams throughout the time, and were extremely tempted to go and check up on whoever it was, but your gut told you to do as Norton said and keep decoding. At one point, your heart had begun pounding, just as it did when the monster was nearby. Your hands stopped, moving away from the keyboard slowly, and you stood completely still, frozen in fear once more as you heard it walk by the trees. You heard the heavy footsteps walk past you slowly, almost as if it were listening for your pounding heart. Though, it soon walked straight past, seemingly not even knowing you were there. You sighed quietly, making sure to breath slower as you begun clicking and clacking at the keyboard once more.
Soon a higher pitched and faster beeping noise came from the machine. You smiled once again, your glossed lips perking into a soft smile as you silently congratulated yourself on making yet another advancement. Though just as you hit a button, a light just above the machine lit up, and a loud click came from the screen. You jumped, falling back but catching yourself as you immediately looked around.
Well It surely heard that
Your heart picked up, seeming as if it responded to your thoughts. You panicked, looking around frantically as your heartbeat grew louder, now pounding in your ears. You heard rustling behind you, and your head snapped around to look. Sure enough, the monster stood there, looking down at you as its blank white face observed the scene.
Its skin, sunken around its eyes creating dents in its eye sockets, and its outfit resembling somewhat of a suit. Tears welled in your eyes from fear and you took a step back.
"Who..What are you...?"
Your words came out in a whispery tone, trembling softly as it took a step forward. It seemed as if your question angered it, as it raised its clawed hand, and before you could even turn to run, it attacked, striking your shoulder creating a deep gash. You cried out immediately, falling to the ground as tears fell down your face quickly. You screamed out as it rose its hand once more, fully intending to end you then and there.
"Help!"
Tears fell to the ground beneath you, wetting it as you clutched your bleeding shoulder. Just as your head fell slightly, accepting what seemed to be your fate, you felt weightless.
You were swooped up by someone, them quickly throwing you over there shoulder and running. You heard his panting, and looked over in shock of what just happened. His black fluffy hair..You recognized that hair..
"Norton?!"
