Almost all of the Slytherin students are waiting up for the group when they first return back to the Common Room, after a deep scolding from Professor McGonagall about leaving the castle without permission, and going into battle. Along with an almost proud smile from the professor when the scolding finishes.

The stories didn't quite do justice to how injured that they all look. All of them covered in various bruises and healing injuries.

"Out of my way!" Malfoy barks as he pushes through the Slytherins. "What the hell were you thinking?!" Malfoy suddenly demands of Iris. Cousins, but they grew up like siblings.

"I don't-" she is too tired to argue with Malfoy right now. Their victory is hollow. They won the battle, but Frey lost Caleb in the process.

Malfoy pulls Iris into a tight hug. "I don't want you putting yourself in such danger. You're like my sister and you're the only one that makes life at Malfoy Manor bearable" Malfoy tells his cousin. Iris is a little shocked, but still hugs Malfoy back.

The last few years they have drifted apart little by little. Iris nearly dying once again made Malfoy scared that he would lose his favourite cousin.

Frey doesn't say much. She just slinks off towards her room to be alone.

Artemis watches her wander away. "There is nothing that I can do to make this easier for her" Artemis tells Mattheo and Lorenzo. Artemis wraps her arm around Mattheo's body, and she rests her head on Lorenzo's shoulder.

"I don't know what to say to her" Lorenzo cannot talk to her. It was his brother that killed Caleb. "This is my fault. I should have just-" if only he had done more to try and reach out to Maric.

"-do not be an idiot!" Tom snaps at Lorenzo. "Your brother is to blame for this, Lorenzo. I will not have you blaming yourself for the terrible actions of your brother" Tom shouts at Lorenzo.

Were they words of encouragement from Tom Riddle?

"T-Thank-you, Tom" Lorenzo is a little frightened that Tom is being so nice to him.

"Shut up!" Tom snaps at Lorenzo, then he pushes past the smaller boy so that he can march towards his bedroom to be alone.

"That's more like it" Mattheo nods. "He is right. You are not blaming yourself for what Maric did. He is the one that has been trying to kill everyone, and you have been there every step of the way to stop him" Mattheo tells his friend.

"I guess...I guess that I lost my brother along time ago. He went further away than I hoped he would" Lorenzo had the distance with Maric for years. But Maric turning to the rebellion is a path that he cannot come back from. Killing Caleb is something that Maric cannot come back from doing.
