"If you're going to promise to bring him home..." Victoria said as she heard footsteps behind her and since they were too heavy for Jordan or Griff, with Tommy having already left the house. It could only be Connor left and he was silently now looking over at her.
"I can't promise that." Connor admitted as she was shaking her head. "I guess that I'm not as green as the others thought." He said as he held up his hands, which both swiftly crackled with electricity.
"Get yourself out of there too." Victoria murmured quietly and he glanced over at her in surprise. "I just don't want Tommy to lose his best friend." Victoria said as she was crossing her arms over her chest.
"Yeah, sure." Connor stated and the electricity was gone. Connor saw that tears were trickling down her face and he looked at her. "What's wrong?" Connor asked and she was shaking her head.
"Every time that I have a feeling like this one... Something goes wrong and somebody dies." Victoria admitted as she was shaking her head. "Just try and come back alive, all right?" Connor was nodding slightly.
"You sound concerned about me." Connor murmured quietly and she said nothing to that, the implications were clear enough and he tapped her on the arm and a jolt of electricity went through her arm.
But it didn't elicit the reaction that he wanted at all. In fact, he might as well have just gotten the opposite one. "You are really worried, aren't you?" Connor murmured as his face turned serious and she glanced over at him.
"I can't lose anybody else Connor, I'll go fucking insane." Victoria said as she was shutting her eyes, the pain ripping through her. A moment later, she felt arms moving around her and Victoria opened her eyes to see that Connor was hugging her.
Normally Victoria would kill the person who dared to even look at her the wrong way, let alone to hug her like this. But she was pushing that thought out of her mind and the worried feeling was rising, she could feel it.
Victoria returned the hug and she was resting her head on his shoulder as he was looking at her. "Come back." She said and he was tilting his head at her, before he reached up and his thumb brushed tears from her cheek. "I mean it." Victoria whispered and he nodded slightly.
"I'll do my best." Connor noted and the car horn was now being honked repeatedly by Tommy, much to Victoria's snickering as she was shaking her head.
"Impatient son of a bitch." Victoria said as she was walking back into the kitchen and Connor went the other direction to follow the honking horn.
"Was the honking really necessary for you to pull?" Connor asked as they were driving and Tommy shrugged.
"I wasn't sure what you two were up to and doing, so I decided to honk. Rather than send Jordan, who would have probably killed you without a second thought." Tommy stated as he was looking at Jordan in the backseat, as she was now just messing around with some scraps of old metal.
"We weren't doing anything." Connor muttered under his breath as Tommy was scoffing, before he was continuing to focus on the road.
"Whatever you say, man." Tommy said and now, he was swiftly turning off of the main road and into the alleyway where the group had agreed to keep Connor.
Tommy parked and he turned around to look at Jordan, who got the message as she was getting out of the car and slamming the door behind her. "Okay, seriously. What happened?" Tommy asked and Connor was shaking his head.
"Nothing happened!" Connor said in disbelief and silently, Tommy crossed his arms over his chest. "Okay. Honestly, she didn't kill me when I gave her a hug." He said and Tommy nodded.
"That's progress." Tommy explained and Connor groaned.
"There is no way that she likes me, T. If she does, then why hasn't she said anything else about it?" Connor asked as Tommy was leaning back in his seat.
"Because she was told by her dad and by Garrett as a kid, that she had no worth and that nobody would ever want to be with her." Tommy said without thinking and as soon as the words came out of his mouth, he wished that he could take them back. "Shit."
"Are you serious?" Connor asked with his eyebrows lifting and then rather reluctantly knowing the secret was out, Tommy nodded slightly. "Is that why you have been trying to poke me into this?" He asked.
"Look, she needs somebody to watch out for her. She has Jordan and Griff, once he learns to watch out for his intended target. She also has me." Tommy noted with a brief stammer on the word, "me" and Connor looked at him. "But she doesn't sleep, she barely eats and she isn't really living. She refuses to live, Connor, she is just surviving." Tommy muttered.
"So, you really want me to see if I can change that?" Connor asked and Tommy looked over at him, before he was nodding. "You're a pain in my ass, Mr. Matchmaker." Connor muttered and at the words, Tommy sighed and he nodded. "Are we ready for this?" Connor asked.
"Time to find out." Tommy noted as he was getting out of the car and he was walking down the road to the edge of the alleyway, before he quickly walked over to where Garrett was and he was hopping into the other door of the garbage truck. "Are we set?" He asked.
"Yeah. Just waiting for the target." Garrett replied as Tommy was dressed in a city worker's uniform, same as Garrett and the walkie-talkie on their dashboard was crackling to life. Garrett grabbed the walkie-talkie as Maddy was talking quickly.
When Tommy looked in the rearview mirror and if he angled it enough, he could see the duo of Jordan and Connor both standing in the alleyway as they seemed to be ready. Or at least Jordan was.
After narrowly avoiding being arrested by the Guardians, Connor and Jordan took down the guardians and the truck.
Maddy and Freddie took care of the other two guardians that had been shocked, while Jordan was ripping the trunk open with a mask over her face and Connor's eyes flashed as the cops were rounded up and Jordan unlocked the handcuffs with a flick of her wrist and the briefcases containing the Pyske had dropped onto the ground safely freed.
Maddy handed it off to Rhino as the rest of them were making their way to the cars, until gunshots rang out.
"What the hell?" Tommy shouted as he saw the dead cops but it was too late to stop it, just like he couldn't stop all of the bullets that were suddenly coming at him.
"Tommy!" Connor shouted and Jordan turned around to try and stop the hailstorm of bullets that the powered had unleashed on him, but Tommy was already on the ground.
Jordan held up her hands and the other bullets were stopping dead straight in midair and Connor was backing away from his friend's body as Maddy was on the ground, dead as well and Jordan let the bullets drop as they were running away, along with Garrett and Freddy as well.
Jordan was getting into the car and Connor was driving the vehicle quickly, with Garrett and Freddy in the backseat. Freddy, who was bleeding out from his bullet wounds and Jordan was staring out of the window, still trying to process it.
Jordan was sitting in the corner of the warehouse and she was leaning back against the wall with the pain in her eyes, as she was solemn and quiet. "Fuck!" Connor shouted and electricity arced out of him, blasting holes in the walls and Jordan covered her eyes at the sight of it.
"They fucked us." Garrett mumbled and Jordan looked up, staring at Garrett from across the room as she was remembering what Connor had told them about the meeting with him, before they had gotten into it.
"No. No, you fucked us, Garrett." Connor snapped, his hands and arms crackling loudly with electricity as he was angrily staring at him.
"This was your plan!" Garrett snapped at him in return. "This was your plan and it was fucked up, so don't you put this on me!" Garrett shouted at him.
"No." Connor said coldly. "The plan was fine, until you got greedy." Connor declared and Connor's eyes flashed, before he was looking over at Jordan. "You ready to go?" He asked and she was nodding slightly, before she got up and now, they were both walking away from the warehouse in silence.
