The breeze flitted through my hair and I sighed, I was growing antsy waiting for the invasion force to arrive. We were all on edge, but we tried our best to seem put together. I was sprawled beside Sokka on my stomach, looking over the maps of the Fire Nation for what seems like the hundredth time today. He was studying them intensely and he rubbed his eyes from concentrating so hard. I grabbed my cup of water from beside me and placed it in his hand, urging him to drink something. He took it with a smile and took a long drink.
I heard a woosh of hair behind me and cocked my head back to see Aang land, "Top of the morning Momo!"
"Sounds like you slept well," Katara spoke up from where she was sitting."Like a baby moose lion. I'm ready to face the Fire Lord!"
"So, what's your strategy for taking him down? Gonna get your glow on with a little Avatar state action?" Toph punched the air in front of her.
"I can't." Aang looked downhearted, "When Azula shot me with lightning, my seventh chakra was locked, cutting off my connection to all the cosmic energy in the universe."
"You know what I just heard? Blah blah spiritual mumbo jumbo, blah blah something about space."
I snickered at Toph's antics and turned my gaze back to the water, ahead in the distance was a giant cloud of fog heading straight for us. I poked Sokka's side and he turned to me, "Sokka, do you think the fog will delay the invasion?"
Sokka stood and pulled me up with him, "No, that is the invasion!"
I squinted my eyes and, sure enough, there were dozens of Water Tribe ships heading our direction. Leading them was a single boat and I could see the outline of a man standing at the helm, a man I could only assume was Hokoda. Everyone rushed down the side of the cliff to where the ships would port and Aang and Toph made platforms of rock so the ships could unload their passengers. I saw Hakoda exit his ship and stood back as Sokka and Katara ran forward to greet their father.
When they were done catching up, Hakoda greeted Aang and Toph before walking over to me. I smiled and took my hand out, but he ignored it and instead threw a punch. I acted instinctively, catching it and placing it behind his back. He laughed, "Your fighting has improved. Great instincts kid."
I let him go, my face heating from his praise, "Thank you."
He chuckled, noticing my embarrassment and ruffled my hair up with his hand. Sokka excused him and his father to go and discuss some things with the other soldiers. I waved them off before moving to stand with Aang, Toph, and Katara. We all reveled in the amount of people who showed up, taking a look around at all the swamp people, earth kingdom citizens, and the water tribe soldiers who had all come to help us during the invasion. It was truly incredible how many people were willing to help the Avatar bring peace back to the Four Nations.
"Hi Katara."
I heard a deep voice speak from behind us and turned to see an Earth Kingdom boy around Sokka's age. Katara immediately ran up to greet him with a big embrace, "Haru! It's so good to see you!"
"(Y/N), Toph. This is Haru," Aang introduced us as we stood in front of the boy. "When we met him his town was controlled by the Fire Nation. So we had to hide his Earth-bending."
Haru smiled, "Katara inspired me and my father to take back our village."
Katara blushed and an older man walked up behind her and Haru, placing a hand on their shoulders, "You helped us find our courage, Katara. Now we're here to help you."
Toph suddenly jerked to the side, placing her hands up, "No way, is that-"
Toph was lifted off the ground and squeezed tightly by The Hippo, "Hippo happy to see Blind Bandit!"
