A/N Writing this has made me realize how hot Sokka's dad is
Sokka had rushed back up to the prison where the new prisoners were being lined up and I tried my best to keep up with him. We finally made it to where they were and Sokka whispered, "Dad," before putting his eye-covering back down and shoving past some other guards to get a better look. "Excuse us! Coming through! The warden wants us over there, sorry."
I smiled sheepishly at the guards as they glared at us for shoving through them. Sokka stopped and we both watched as the warden greeted his new prisoners. This was my first time seeing the warden in person. He was stout, with long brownish-gray hair that was in a ponytail and resting across his forehead was a headband with the fire nation emblem. His face was wrinkled in a permanent frown and his presence exuded a threatening aura. His voice was deep and stern, "Welcome to the Boiling Rock. I'm sure you've all heard the horrible rumors about our little island. Well, I just want to tell you that they don't have to be true, as long as I do everything I say." He stood in front of Hakoda, "Look me in the eye when I'm talking to you."
"No," Hakoda spoke defiantly.
The warden seemed shocked by the refusal, "Oh, you'd rather look at my shoes?" He then kicked Hakoda down, using the handcuffs to send Hakoda into a bowing-position on the floor. "I know exactly who you are, Hakoda of the Water Tribe. So strong-willed. But don't worry, we'll get rid of that in time. Now look me in the eye!" Hakoda slowly looked up, a scowl present on his features. "See, isn't that better?" He then turned to the other prisoners, "You will all do as I say or pay the price. You will always-" He fell to the floor, tripped by Hakoda's handcuffs.
Sokka and I stifled our laughs as two other guards rushed forward to help the warden. "Are you okay, sir?"
The warden stood quickly, "I'm fine! Get these prisoners out of my sight!" He stormed off angrily and the guards guided the prisoners into the prison to take them to their cells.
I whispered to Sokka, "Spirits, that guy is a dick on an insane power-trip."
"Tell me about it," he muttered back before walking off, "Let's go find my dad's cell."
After we searched and searched, peering into the little slots in the doors of at least fifty cells, we finally found Hakoda. Sokka told me to wait outside and I nodded, letting them have their little reunion while I kept watch. After a minute or so, Sokka knocked twice on the door and I slid it open and walked in, slamming it back shut.
Hakoda put his fists up and Sokka held his hands up, "Relax, dad, it's just (Y/N)."
I took my helmet off and smiled, "Great to see you doing well, Hakoda."
He pulled me into a warm hug, "Good to see you too, kid." He pulled back and shook his head, "Though I have to say, when I said to take care of my kids, sneaking into the most heavily-guarded prison in the world with one of them was not what I had in mind."
I rolled my eyes and pointed to Sokka, "This one actually wanted to come on his own. Your son is brave but so, so reckless."
"I'm standing right here, you know," Sokka said, crossing his arms.
Hakoda barked out a laugh, "Then I guess I'm glad you came with him."
Sokka changed the subject, peeking out the slot in the door for any guards, "So, where's Bato? Where's everyone else from the invasion?"
"The others are being held at a prison near the Fire Nation palace." He sat on the floor and me and Sokka joined him, leaning against the wall. "They singled me out as their leader and sent me here. But before I left, I met some young women who said they knew you. The Oshinama fighters?"
