Chapter 3

"Do you want to talk it out or..." I could feel Klovis's hesitant gaze while I was packing my things in my bag. I wanted to concentrate on what I was doing, like folding my clothes neatly so everything would fit well into my backpack. However, my raging emotions from my conversation with my great ancestor never fail to disrupt my focus.

"Why is it that you want me to talk with someone as cold blooded as that man?" Klovis sure is nice that he would even side with a man who is willingly kicking him out to his possible demise. Just remembering my conversation with Kvahein almost made me want to rip my bag in half out of anger. Looking at Klovis, he couldn't even stand on his own yet. Right now, he is riding on Jade's back.

Gem, who reverted back to her smaller form, is sleeping peacefully on my lap. Somehow, the cockatrice has been sleeping a lot that it was causing concern for me at some point.

"Livia, that's not what I am worried about. You're back in the human realm. Why would you want to return to Fae when you are safe here and away from Zhier?"

"That guy is the reason I am going to return! I don't know what he would do to you when you go back."

"Livia, think rationally with me. The fae is my home and I am bound to return someday. But you, you don't belong there."

"I'm part fae. You know that."

"You grew up being human. Even the rules of the fae regarding humans were applicable to you. You can even lie like humans." I don't really need to be reminded that I was stuck in the fae all because of a damn colored fruit, but I could not deny that he was speaking facts.

"Klovis, it's not the same. If you are worried that I would be there to endanger myself, you're wrong. I know magic now. At least enough to defend myself. I'm more worried about you being alone." I mumble, remembering the state of his palace when we left. It was taken over by Zhier because it was left unattended due to the disappearance of Klovis and me when we wandered into a strange realm to retrieve a sap that could fix the mirror.

Speaking of mirrors...

"Klovis, the mirror. Do you..."

"I fixed it." He says, retrieving something from his pocket to show me the bag that Grignel handed to me before we left the palace. I was wondering what was inside of it, but it turns out, it held those broken pieces of the Seelie's mirror. Klovis stuck his hand into the small back and pulled out a mirror that was much larger than the bag that carried it. It was still as magical as I remembered it, with it's thick, rooted edge and pristine, clear glass. Unlike before, where it was missing a piece, it was now fully intact. Although it seemed to be fixed, there seems to be a worry crease on Klovis' forehead.

"What is it?"

"It's dull."

"Dull?"

Klovis adjusted his hold on the mirror, making it face me. "I don't know if King Kvahein taught you how, but it is lacking its magic."

I am not that accustomed to magic that well yet, but after pointing it out, I could barely sense any magic from it. Getting up, I headed over to lightly touch the mirror, inserting a bit of my magic into it and found that it was barely reacting.

"Was it not like this before?"

"No." Klovis shakes his head in dismay. "Even though it was broken before, it was dripping with magic. Perhaps I did something wrong when I was fixing it." He sighs. "Perhaps I broke it in trying to fix it."

"The mirror isn't broken." Klovis and I turn to Kvahein, who suddenly joins in on the conversation. Looking at the way he was standing arrogantly at the doorframe, I couldn't stop myself from frowning. "If it lacks magic, you can just replace it with one."
