Chapter 8
Once again, getting dressed and dolled up in Seelie attire makes me feel nostalgic and anxious about our mission. The soft fabric of the expensive garment lightly brushes my skin, hugging the curves of my body. The green tube top sundress flows out like water and slowly cascades below my knees. My hair has been turned and colored into a light pink shade, while my skin is turned into a yellow color, thanks to my magic. Illusions are one of the first spells that I mastered while training under Kvahein so I was pretty happy and confident when I saw my reflection in one of the mirrors provided by the pixies.
"Wow. I didn't know that you knew how to use magic." Efeiza walks in wearing a full on merchant disguise like me—yellow skin and blue short hair. When she pauses, she smiles and places a hand on her hip. "Were you keeping that ability a secret?"
"Not at all. I didn't know about this until I met my late grandpa."
"Who is your grandpa?"
"Kvahein, I guess."
"Haha! That's funny. He has the same name as the late fairy king." Efeiza chuckles when looking at me. Seeing as I wasn't laughing along with her, she freezes. "You're not laughing. Lord Kvahein is really your generation's grandfather?"
"Yeah. It's true." It just came to me that only Klovis and the creatures created by Joana are the only ones who are aware of my birth. I completely forgot that the rest of the fairies don't know anything about my powers. This leaves me wondering if I could use this to my advantage?
I look up to Efeiza, wondering if I should ask her about my idea; however, the tall, unseelie assassin is looking at me with her mouth hanging.
"WHAT!?" She screams, catching even Beor in surprise at her outburst. She starts to catch herself and, anxiously, bites her finger. "What should I do? Should I bow?"
"That...I don't think that you should—"
"How could I not when you are a descendant of the late king!? Oh, my goodness. You're technically a princess!" She continues to ramble, more to herself than to me.A princess? If you think about it carefully, that is possible. But instead of feeling flattered, it just made me feel uncomfortable because I feel like I am being basked in a new limelight.
"Enough." Beor hits Efeiza with his antlers. The unseelie fae stumbles forward, nearly losing her balance since she was too preoccupied with how to treat me after knowing about my bloodline. "You are making her uncomfortable."
Efeiza looks at me, noticing how I was smiling downward. If I wasn't feeling pressured enough, the fairy woman drops to her knees and hits her forehead to the ground as she apologises.
"I'M SO SORRY, PRINCESS! PLEASE TELL ME HOW I COULD REDEEM MYSELF TO YOU!"
Beor and I exchange an equally unamused look. We both have the same thought—if I don't want another fae acting like Efeiza in front of me again, we must keep my bloodline a secret.

Efeiza and I were teleported back to the main fairy realm in our disguises. We have a backpack with us that's full of berries and gems. We're posing today as merchants, which is the easiest way to get inside.
"Krrr...." Gem came with us, disguised as a bird of paradise with rainbow feathers and is currently perching on my shoulder. The sound that he just let out was him protesting about his current appearance.
I thought about bringing Jade along for this, but I figured that it would be best if he stayed and watched over Klovis. I actually tried to leave Gem behind as well, but he was keen on coming along with me.
"I'm sorry about this. It won't be for long." I give my cockatrice a pat on the back out of sympathy. Gem begins to ruffle his new feathers like he is trying to keep them pretty. I could understand his pain. Having my hair dyed with magic tends to become a bit itchy. There's only so little I can do to distract myself.
"Efeiza—"
"YES, YOUR MAJESTY!?" The fairy assassin quickly stands in full attention with a matching salute.
I bit the side of my lower lip. "Can you just call me Leiah for now? Didn't we agree on that, Aurei?" I put some emphasis on the names that we came up with for our disguises before returning to the main realm.
"Yes, of course. Your ma—I mean—Leiah!"
Oh boy. This is going to be troublesome. I need to divert her attention elsewhere.
"Aurei, how are we supposed to get inside? We obviously don't have any identification." My stay in the Seelie Palace was brief, but it was enough for me to know that how they operate is almost similar to human protocols. No one can enter and exit an establishment without showing some sort of identification and the purpose of their visit.
The fairy version of their identifications are small stone beads around their necks that hold a bit of magic just to verify their citizenship. Efeiza and I are wearing one right now, but it is obviously fake.
"Oh, don't worry about that. We have an insider that can help us out." Efeiza proudly says, looking at me like she is insisting that I trust her. I do want to trust her, but for some reason, I am a little nervous about it. But it is a good thing that she seems to be back to her regular self, even when it is temporary.
We start to move again, with Efeiza taking the lead, as she is the one who knows how to deal with the guards guarding the gate. I nearly bumped into her when she suddenly stopped. "Oh, shit. This is not good."
"Why? What's up?" I got concerned because of how pale her face is. When she points a finger towards the gate, I understand where her concern is coming from.
Seeing the familiar figure of Zhier nearly made my knees buckle.
