Chapter 14
Back in the other realm, I was helping Beor take Grignel to the lake to heal him. Faragon is right next to us, casting a concerned gaze as the lake absorbed his twin brother.
"You." Beor addresses the stiff elf beside me. If he could hide behind me, he already would have.
"Y-Yes?"
Beor watches the elf behind me cower. The elk then tilts its head. "There is no need for you to fret. I am angry that Prince Klovis brought two other guests with him."
"But I am Prince Zhier's—"
"I know." Beor cuts him off. "But your allegiance lie elsewhere, am I right?"
Faragon seems to relax a bit, even taking a tiny step away from me so he can properly see Beor. "Y-yes."
The elf curtly nods its head and tilts his head towards the lake. "Then go on."
"What?"
"The lake. You may go." Beor says and eyes his amputated arm. "The sap can restore what has once been lost. If you wish to recover your hand, you have my permission to use the lake. After all, you lost your arm while trying to help Prince Klovis, didn't you?"
I watch Faragon's with a gleaming expression on my face. The look on his face was priceless. To be offered to use the lake by the primary guardian of the other realm is a huge privilege. I am pretty sure that he knows it.
I have to give him a nudge since he was being silent. "Go on now. Before he changes his mind."
"Thank you." Faragon finally seems to have found his voice. He bows at Beor and takes small and careful steps towards the lake, where he is due for rest and recovery.
As soon as Faragon left, I left Beor, moving close and stopping at my side.
"Seems like you had a little bit of an adventure," he comments.
I scoffed. "Meeting the fake Seelie prince is nothing little. And I wouldn't call it an adventure, but a nightmare."
"I figured you had an encounter with that fae." He chuckles. "The other prince here was making such a big fuss."
Curiosity burns in me. "Why? What did he do?"
"He woke up long before his due awakening and demanded where you were." Beor shakes his head. "He was more than furious at the fact that the others have arrived without you and left before any of us could ever stop him. What an ungrateful fae." He sighs. Something tells me that even though he looks and sounds exasperated, he seems to be finding something humorous. "Livia, can you do me a favour and go check up on the Unseelie Prince?"
There's a reason why I am not standing beside Klovis right now. And it is because of what he said before taking us back to this other realm. Thinking about it is making my cheeks redden.
"He seems fine to me." I mumble, looking away from Beor.
From the corner of my eyes, I can see Beor tilting his head worriedly. What's with that tone? Did you and his highness fight?"
"No, it's nothing like that." I say briefly before resorting into silence once more. Beor waited patiently for what I was going to say next but nothing followed.
"It appears that this is something personal. I hope that it isn't something troublesome?" Beor raises an inquisitive brow in my direction.
"No." I shake my hand. "It's not. It's just...something that I cannot explain."
Beor meets my gaze. His nostrils flare when he sighs. "The only advantage that you have as a human is that no one can tell whether you are lying or not. Very well, I will not push the matter, but if you must know, the Unseelie prince might be having the same predicament." Beor turns back and walks away, leaving me to absorb his words and try to figure out what he meant by it.
