Chapter 15
"Welcome back." I greeted Faragon as soon as he awakened from the sack that he was encased in. Golden sap escapes from the pod that Faragaon walks out of. I have to keep my eyes steady on his face because he walks out naked.
Faragon grogilly opens his eyes and almost trips on his feet as he gets out. Klovis and Jade both come to catch him. The elf gives out a groan, rubbing his eyes before looking at his left hand, which has regrown its lost limb. His eyes sparkled with amazement.
"My hand." He flexes it. The movement seems a little careless as his fingers make shaky movements. At the moment he looks a little tearful, but that was all cut off when Klovis intervenes brought him back to the present by presenting him some clothes.
"That's nice. Do you think you can use your new set of hands to wear your brand new clothes?"
Upon hearing Klovis's comment, Faragon suddenly becomes aware of his current state and quickly turns away after taking the clothes offered by the Unseelie prince.
"Ah, sorry." His face turns red and he quickly grabs his clothes and turns around.
I avert my gaze from the naked elf to follow Klovis with my gaze. The unseelie prince seems to be staring that absentmindedly at a distance. It is rare for me to see him this deep in thought. His flawless fae skin seems to develop some wrinkles from frowning too much.
I decided to head over towards him. He must have been in much deeper thought than I imagine because when I place a hand on his shoulder, he jumps in surprise. I withdraw my hand back immediately.
"Are you okay?"
Sweat seems to cover Klovis's forehead. He takes a deep sigh to calm his nerves before he responds, forcing up a smile to cover up his earlier expression. "Thank you for worrying about me, Livia. But it is not something that I am ready to share."
At least he is not trying to hide anything by changing the topic. This time, he was being flat honest with me, which is all I want.
"If you change your mind, you should know that I'm here for you, right?"
A ghost of a smile spreads on Klovis's lips. The wrinkle on his forehead is now gone. "I know. And I appreciate you for that."
Despite our reassuring conversation, it still bothers me that there is something that was bothering Klovis. In any case, it's not like I can force him to say anything to me so I decided to just let it go. I playfully nudge his shoulder with mine.
"Chin up. It's not like you to have a sour expression. That should be my character." I figure that he might need some space so I opted to move away, but he surprises me when he suddenly grabs my hand.
"Actually, Livia, I—"
"So this is where you two have been." Beor takes that time to appear, completely interrupting whatever Klovis was going to say. The elf walks over the lake of golden sap and pauses before us. "The mermaid has awoken and she wishes to speak with you two." Beor stares at us and just now seems to notice how Klovis was still holding my hand. Beor's brow shoots up. "Sorry. Have I interrupted something?"
Oh, right. With so much happening, I almost completely forgot about Jamaya.
"You did, but it's fine. We have more important things to talk about." When Klovis lets go of my hand, I start to feel cold. The moment Klovis starts walking away to reach the gate that leads to Jamaya's domain, I turn to Beor with a frown as I cross my arms.
Beor, who was initially looking at Klovis, soon notices me staring at him and has a bewildered expression. "What?"
"Nothing." I grumble. There's no use in getting upset about it. Maybe I can ask Klovis what he was going to tell me after we get to Jamaya.
