You sat in Anteiku for nearly three hours before the rain stopped. You mostly sat on your phone but occasionally you would watch Kaneki and the other employees work. Sometimes you would catch him staring at you, or maybe it was just your overactive imagination. Who knows.
You left after the skies started to clear, stealing one last glance at Kaneki before you left the shop.
Even though the sun would be setting soon, you couldn't help but notice how unusually bright it was. Everything seemed so much more vibrant.
You could honestly care less though, your head was full of things more important, like that boy from the shop.
'I know I only just met him, but he was so sweet, maybe that's why I find him interesting,' you thought.
You looked up at the sky and quickened your pace. You were so deep in thought that you failed to notice that the sun was setting. The sky a gorgeous orange-red color, pink clouds dot the horizon. Most people would have liked to watch the brilliant colors. But for you, it reminded you of one thing.
Ghouls.
You knew that it could be dangerous moving to Tokyo, especially after dark, when the flesh-eating creatures would come out at night. You remember seeing a few cases on the news. It gave you the shivers.
You were almost home, you could see your apartment complex over on the adjacent street. 'I'm almost home! I'm almost the-'
Your thoughts were cut off after you felt a hand grab your arm and pull you into one of the alley way. You tried to scream but another hand covered you mouth, muffling your shouts and pleas of terror.
"You should pay more attention to your surroundings, you'll never know that's lurking nearby," a dark voice chuckled.
You felt yourself being thrown deeper into the alley, until you collided with a wall. The impact was enough to knock the wind out of you. You tried to stand up, but the impact left you so disoriented that you fell back into the ground.
You heard footsteps behind you, and you started to shake. Your heart was beating so fast you thought it would beat right out of your chest. You looked behind you, what you saw made your blood run cold.
A man stares down at you grinning maniacally. His pupils are red while his sclera is pitch black. Your stomach sank as you started to tremble. A ghoul.
Your reaction only excited him. "Oh sweetheart, if only you knew what that look was doing to me," he purred, releasing two tale like appendages from his back. His kagune. "It makes me so...hungry."
You backed up against the wall, tears streaming as he got closer until he stood above you. He crouched down to your level, watching and studying you for his own amusement.
He suddenly grabbed your face and you yelped, forcing you to tilt it to the side. He sniffed your neck and you shuddered, trying to press yourself as far into the wall as you could.
"P-please.." Your voice was barely a whisper. "Please l-let me go, d-don't eat me!" you cried.
He just laughed at you. "Now why would I do that?" He leaned in closer, you could feel his breath hitting your ear. "You smell so nice, so tasty.."
You could feel drool drip down your neck and shoulder. This wasn't supposed to be your end. You shut your eyes tight, preparing for the pain of being ripped apart and eaten alive.
However, it never came. You felt his weight suddenly disappear and another crash. You heard the man screaming, followed by the sound of flesh ripping.
You kept your eyes closed and held your stomach. The sound of flesh tearing isn't the same as what you thought it is. You could hear bones snapping and the blood pour like it was water. The sound of skin tearing was the worst, it made you feel sick.
And then as quickly as it began, silence. You open your eyes and slowly turned around to find the ghoul dead, ripped to pieces with a gaping hole in his stomach. You quickly looked away from the gruesome scene, still shaking from shock.
'Wait!! If he's dead than something else is here!' Your mind screamed. You froze for a moment, feeling your heart hammer in your chest.
You slowly stand up and look around. You catch movement out of the corner of your eye, and that's when you see it.
It was another man. He had black hair and wore a mask with a wicked smile, he just walked out onto the street!
You stumble over your feet before you run towards the end of the alley. You emerge from the shadows and turn into the open streets, opening your mouth about to thank the mysterious man. There was a slight problem though.
He was gone.
