Caleb
Twisting the key in the lock, I felt my heart sink to the bottom of my stomach.
Our two weeks in California were over. Reality was starting to set in. And it sucked.
These last two weeks had gone by fast. So very fast. It seemed as though I hadn't had a proper taste of life with Jenson.
Seriously. We arrived, I blinked and then it was time to go again.
It was so fucking unfair.
Dropping the house key in the pocket of my shorts, I heaved a sigh.
Two weeks wasn't enough. I wanted more time with him.
A pair of strong arms wrapped around my waist and I felt Jenson lean his head on my shoulder, his chest pressed against my back. I held his hands as I stared at the front door of the summer house. The house I had just locked up. The house we were leaving.
Two weeks. That was all we'd had here.
Two fucking weeks.
Blinking against the sting of sudden tears, I pulled on Jenson's arms, wrapping them more tightly around me. I didn't want to let go.
Couldn't.
If I felt like this now ... after just two weeks in the summer house ... how the fuck was I going to say goodbye to him at the end of the summer?
Fuck.
Fucking stupid.
"Whatcha doing?" Jenson's voice was muffled as he mumbled into my neck, his warm breath fanning across my skin.
I'm dreading leaving you.
"Making sure the house is locked," I muttered, testing the door handle for effect.
"Won't the hundreds of staff be here soon?"
I chuckled. Jenson had spent some of his time in the house tiptoeing around, peering around corners, pressing his ear against doors ... he said it was to make sure he wasn't disturbing anyone while they were doing their job, but I knew it was because they seemed to scare him, always appearing when he'd least expect it and scare the shit out of him.
"I have to make sure I lock the door before we go. Mom and Dad would be pissed if the place was ransacked because I left the door open."
He hummed, his mouth right on my skin. A shiver ran along my spine and I sighed. Again.
"What time is our flight?" he muttered, placing a kiss near my ear.
"Uh ... two, I think." Plenty of time to drop the car off at the airport, and lounge around, waiting for our flight. I'd left my own car in a secure parking lot at the airport, so when we landed, I could drive Jenson home before making my way back to my empty house.
Rebecca was flying out this afternoon to spend the rest of the summer out here in California and I knew my parents would be away somewhere, at some sort of function, impressing more clients.
Just wished they would turn up at home more often to impress their kids.
"Let's grab lunch on the way to the airport," Jenson suggested, resting his head on my shoulder once more. "I'm starving."
I chuckled. "You're always hungry."
"That's why I want to be a chef. Food is my speciality."
Laughing, I loosened his hold on my waist and spun around until I was looking into his deep dark eyes.
