Hey guys! My first story so feel free to leave and critiques. Also I do not own the characters just the story I come up with. Anyways hope you like it!

Five years. That's how long this room had remained shuttered, daring someone to trespass into his space. Nya stood at the threshold, shaking hands hovering over the doorknob. She took a breath. The door creaked open. Air rushed out of her lungs. Like a snapshot frozen in time, his room remained unchanged. Clothes were tossed haphazardly, missing the basket entirely. Weapons glinted in the muted sunlight. She traced a gentle finger over the messy papers on his desk, studying his designs. Complicated math equations and notes were scrawled in his familiar hand. He never had the chance to bring these ideas to life, to create machines she knew would take her breath away. If it weren't for the coat of dust that covered the room, she could almost convince herself that he would walk through the door at any second, cracking a dumb joke to make her laugh. On his bed, she noticed a stuffed animal hiding between pillows. Scooping the toy up, Nya buried her face into Mr. Cuddlywomp's soft fur. It still smelled like thunderstorms and home. Like him.
She slumped to the bed. Hot tears blurred her vision, and she dug her nails into her palms. Blinking them away, her gaze settled on a picture of the two of them displayed proudly by his bedside. She remembered when that picture was taken. It was the day he had agreed to go to a dance class with her, after making her swear to never tell the rest of the team. He was laughing, freckled face scrunched in that adorable smile she adored. His auburn curls were messy after an afternoon of dancing. She had her face buried into his chest, hiding a smirk. She had been so impressed with the effortless way he had danced that day while she struggled to do the simplest steps. Instead of teasing her for her lack of grace, he knew her well enough to know being bad at something would drive her crazy. He had somehow turned an embarrassing, frustrating experience into one of her favorite memories. She missed him. His stupid jokes and goofy smile that could make her laugh until her sides hurt. The way he saw her, with all her flaws and strengths and loved her anyways.
A rap sounded from the door, and Nya froze. Lloyd creaked the door open, a crease between his brows as his eyes searched hers. She roughly wiped her tears away.
"Nya," he whispered, crossing the room quickly and settling on the bed beside her. "We're going to find him." He pulled her into him, and she let herself cry. His arms anchored her as the floodgates broke, months of feigned strength and distractions crumbling. Sobs racked her body. It felt like she was drowning without him. The Master of Water, killed by the thing she was supposed to control.
"Why hasn't he come back?" she rasped once she could breathe again. She sat up, embarrassed by the snotty mess on Lloyd's shirt. Heavy silence fell.
"I don't know," he said. "But you know Jay. He's tough. He can look after himself." Nya laughed quietly.
"Tough and Jay aren't two words I'd put together," she said. The moment of levity died as she imagined him alone somewhere, spiralling in a place where she couldn't reach him. She knew he could handle himself. But sometimes Jay got in his own head, letting anxiety and panic take over. All she wanted was to make sure he was safe. If she at least knew where he was, like with Kai, it would be bearable. It was like he had disappeared off the face of the earth. She knew Jay would have spent every moment since the merge fighting his way back to her, and the fact that he hadn't shown up in five years...Nya stopped her train of thought. She needed to hope he was okay, or else she would go down a path she didn't know if she could come back from.
"I need to go find him, Lloyd. Everyday I don't spend looking for him is killing me a little more."
"I know. Nya," he said, looking her in the eyes, "It's time to put everything aside and just look for him and Kai. No more fighting Ras. No more training the new Ninja. I can't-" he paused, voice breaking. "I need my family back."
Nya squeezed Lloyd's shoulder, grateful he understood. Sometimes she forgot just how much the rest of the team struggled with her losses too. "We're going to bring them home."
