A/N: this is a very important chapter where you'll learn a lot about Maya, so please read with attention! it'll be valuable for the rest of the story.

By 5am Maya woke up and decided to get ready for the day. It was her first and only day off during the euros.

She quickly got ready, trying not to make a lot of noise, so as not to wake Leah up. Soon it was time to leave the room and get in her taxi.

The taxi ride was 5 minutes. Once she got to the train station, her train to Liverpool had just arrived. She got in, put her phone on mute and looked out the window.

In 3 hours, she was going to meet up with her best friend, Amybeth.

The ride was painful.

Arriving in Liverpool was painful. She hasn't been to Liverpool in 7 months, since she joined Arsenal.

She got in a taxi and 15 minutes later there she was. West Derby.

She was also 7 minutes away from the Liverpool training grounds. She didn't really miss it that much. Not like it's her teammate's fault, or even the team, not at all. She was just too depressed to actually enjoy most of it.

This city left her in a melancholic state. She didn't want to do anything. She didn't want to walk, to breathe, to move a single muscle. All she felt was pain, and this pain was fueled by nostalgia.

Nostalgia from bad times, mostly.

She breathed in and out. She held on tighter to her notebook and walked past the ghostly gates.

Maya already knew the path like the back of her hand. And soon, there she was.

Here lies

Amybeth Smith

1999-2018

Maya looked down and started crying. Why did it still hurt so bad?

She knew grief was silly like that. Sometimes it hits on a random sunny afternoon. Sometimes she doesn't even cry about it.

After the initial tears, she sat down in front of her friend. "Hi" Maya said, quietly, like the only person that could hear her was Amy.

"I'm sorry I haven't visited you in a while. Actually, a lot of stuff has happened" Maya apologized. "I've thought about you every day though".

Maya cries some more.

"I have yet to realize why you got taken from me. I know you believed in God and all that, but he was kind of an ass to you" Maya said, cleaning her tears. "I have a friend now, Beth, who says that everything happens for a reason. I've been trying to think like that".

Maya stayed in silence for a moment.

"Oh, you're probably wondering who Beth is. Well, I joined Arsenal back in January. It was great, it truly was. I feel so welcomed already. I think you'd like them" Maya said.

She opened her notebook and grabbed her pen. "I've actually written topics of stuff I want to talk to you about" Maya said, looking at her notebook.

Then she started sobbing again. She missed her so much.

"You should release music"  17 year old Amy said, as Maya played the guitar.
