As I pulled into the school's parking lot I half expected to see Steve's car in its assigned parking space next to mine. Instead I was met with swarms of news vans and reporters. It was like someone got murdered. Erm wait.
As I stepped out of my car and started walking towards the building I thought I could avoid the reporters. I was wrong. I was swarmed by reporters shoving microphones and cameras in my face.
"Y/N! Y/N! How does it feel to be brutally attacked?" One reporter shamelessly asked
"Y/N! Where you involved with the murders of your brother and Casey Becker?" Another reporter accused
"Y/N! I have a couple questions! Do you have a min-" The third reporter to speak up was briskly cut off as a hand grabbed my wrist
"Hey Y/n! Let's go to class shall we?" Tatum spoke up, leading me through the reporters towards the school building.
This was a mistake, I should've stayed home.
"Do you believe this shit? They have no empathy!" Tatum complained when Sidney joined us walking towards our lockers.
"What happened?" Sidney asked, causing a genuine look of shock from Tatum's face.
"Oh My God! You don't know? Casey Becker and Steve Orth were killed last night!"
"No way.."
"And not just killed, Sid. We're talking about a splatter movie killed, split from end to end!" Tatum exclaimed, warranting a shocked and angry look from me.
"Oh god Y/N, i'm so sorry I-" she tried to apologize
"Its fine." I cut her off swifty as I rummaged through my locker
"Casey Becker sits next to me in English.."
"Not anymore."
"Do they know who did it?" Sidney inquired.
"No, fucking clueless, they're interrogating the entire school. Teachers, students, staff, janitors.." Tatum explained.
"They think its school related?" Sidney asked in disbelief
"They don't know! Dewey says its the worst crime they've seen since-" Tatum cut herself off before she rambled about the murder of Sidney's mother last year. "Well its bad."
Before Tatum could say anything else I slammed my locker, scaring the two girls slightly.
Looking up we noticed Billy and Stu now standing by their girlfriends. Unbeknownst to the other four tears started to form in the corners of my eyes. Shit this really was a mistake. Shit shit shit no Y/N don't cry, damnit. I hid my face and walked away, the four looked up and exchanged concerned looks.
"I'm gonna go check on her," Billy decided, swiftly pecking Sidney on the cheek.
He rounded the corner and finally caught up with me. He grabbed my wrist which startled me. I turned around just for his brown eyes to meet my teary ones. He looked like he was going to make a joke but instead he grabbed my shoulders and leaned down to my level.
"Hey, hey. What's going on?" He questioned comfortingly. I broke from his grip and faced the ceiling. I blinked hard and wiped my face trying to form words. No success. The words I wanted to say just got caught in my throat. I wanted to tell him everything, like I usually did. I took a deep breath trying to console myself. Goddamnit I missed my brother. Billy has always been there for me but not like Steve had. The missing piece of the puzzle known as my heart was severely fucked now. Who would want a ugly heart missing a huge chunk like that?
