"Hi Randy." I greeted as I pulled away from Mickey and stood up. I walked over to Randy to embrace my friend. He was clearly worried.
"Hey! Wait.. what's wrong?" Randy asked, slightly bending down to my eye level. He gazed worriedly at my puffy face. I tilted my head down trying to hide my obvious tears.
"Hey, hey, don't cry. Everything's gonna be alright." Randy comforted softly tilting my chin back up to face him. He used his shirt sleeve to wipe my newest tears. He quietly shushed my tears and pulled me into a tight, yet gentle embrace.
Unbeknownst to us, Mickey's jealous eyes were staring daggers into Randy's head.
"Where's Dewey? And have you seen Derek yet?" I asked Randy
"Dewey's in with Derek, he's doing fine." Randy explained, pointing down the hall to where I assumed they were.
"Do you want me to come with you?" Randy asked. I shook my head and smiled. I hugged Randy once more before heading down the hall. I dragged my finger along the tiles, counting them to distract my head from other thoughts. 5, 6, 7, door, 8, 9.
I paused when I reached the open doorway, standing next to Dewey. Derek was talking to an officer while a doctor stitched his wound. Luckily he only got cut along the back of his forearm.
"You're lucky there's no nerve damage, you'll have to take it easy for a couple of days." the doctor explained
"He didn't struggle, nothing, I mean, you're very lucky he didn't kill you." The cop in the room added on.
"Yeah, it's real convenient for everybody," Dewey remarked, glancing over at me. I gave him a look that told him to shut up.
"Excuse me?" Derek asked, almost daring Dewey to repeat what he said. I looked back and forth between the to, ready to step in if a fight broke out.
"Nothing, it's just a shame the killer got away so easily." Dewey said, crossing his arms and leaning back against the doorframe.
"It's just a shame you got there too late, right after he ran away." Derek counteracted.
"Both of you stop!" I intervened, stepping between the two.
"Dewey, you know better, and Derek, just shut up. You need to take it easy, you almost got butchered!" I scolded the two.
"Me? Y/n, look at your collar bone!" Derek argued back.
"Derek, I've been through this before, this isn't my first rodeo." I said trying to lighten the mood,
"And it isn't your first scar either!" Derek practically pleaded.
"He's right, the sick bastard practically marked you." Dewey added examining the bandages on my chest.
"GUYS! This is not the issue! Maybe he just likes symmetry? Look, the main focus here is to catch the killer. Not the scars on my body." I explained trying to shut the two of them up. The three of us were unintentionally ignoring the doctor and cop, who at this point were just observing the conversation.
"The issue is that you were almost killed Y/n!" Derek confirmed.
"I don't mean to quote you Derek but. Me? Look at you!" I said, making quotation marks with my fingers.
"If we catch the killer we won't ever have to be in this situation again. Supposedly..." I muttered the last word under my breath.
"Y/n's right Derek." Dewey concluded.
"Wait, She's right, and he's right? They can't both be right." The Cop budded in, causing everyone's attention to shift and the room to fall silent.
"Get the fuck out." I demanded, unintentionally taking my frustration out on the doctor and the cop. Only I can make Fiddler on the Roof references, who does he think he is?
"That's kinda brutal, Y/n." Derek muttered, causing me to shift my exhausted and angry gaze toward him. I sighed and rubbed my temples.
"Look, I'm going home. Tell Sid and Hallie I'm in my room will ya?" I asked the two men
"Oh, yeah, sure.. Bye." Derek said, Dewey simply waved.
During this time, I was unaware of the interaction between my two very dear friends. Randy and Mickey.
Randy's POV:
I watched as Y/n walked down the hall, and waited until her figure disappeared. When it did I turned around and was met with Mickey, glaring daggers at me.
"Woah dude, what?" I questioned.
"You just love ruining everyone's love life because Y/n doesn't like you back." Mickey spat out, standing up to face me properly.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, confused by Mickey's sudden change in behavior, backing up slightly.
"You just can't let anyone have her can you? You couldn't handle it with Billy and Stu, that's why you got your so-called "love-scar". I get it, you love her but can't handle seeing her with your friend, who by the way she would've kissed if you had stayed out of it." Mickey taunted, angry at me.
Damnit, I knew they were too close earlier.
"Look dude, just back off. You don't know her like I do." I fought back, standing up straighter.
"I know that she can't even look you in the eyes because of all the trauma they remind her of, let alone kiss you." Mickey insulted.
"I mean don't take it personally, she can't look at Sid or Deputy Dewey either. But c'mon, if she loved you, you'd think she'd be able to look at you." Mickey continued
"Shut up Mickey. You're such a liar." I quarreled.
"But you know i'm not." Mickey concluded. Before I could say another word, in walked Hallie and Sidney.
