Twice in a lifetime

"I distinctly remember telling you that you should complete the file by yesterday morning. Then where was it yesterday?!" I asked my assistant Ms. Jones

I swear one of these days, my head's gonna blow up.

"Oh, I didn't think you'd mind, I'm sorry Mr. Ashford"

WTF?

I won't mind?

Who did she think I was? A fucking tree?!

The audacity!!

"I don't know under what delusion you are living in, but when I provide anyone with a task, I expect them to fucking complete it on time. Now leave!"

She apologised once again and left.

Before she could open the door, I called out to her. "Consider yourself fired Ms. Jones."

She tried to negotiate telling me that she did in fact, complete the work but I was in no mood to talk to her. She already wasted 5 minutes of my time.

She definitely needs to work on her manners.

I gestured with my finger asking her to leave. And thankfully she left.

I need a new assistant....

Again.

I asked the H.R development head to assign me a new personal assistant. I know they are tired of me firing each one of them, but I will never tolerate inefficiency.

I took a deek breath. I don't know why I'm even existing here.

After her betrayal I could never bring myself to engage in anything, she almost destroyed everything I have created on that small apartment of mine.

The question 'why' still lingers in my mind. She had everything, I could give her everything but she threw it all away.

I wonder where she is now.

SELENA LOCKWOOD

"MOMMYYYYYY WAKE UPP!!!!!"

"Not now, June. Let me sleep!" I groaned, my voice muffled by the pillow.

How can someone be so energetic early in the morning?!

"But mommy, today is Sunday, we are supposed to go out, you are too lazy!" She huffed beside me, too annoyed with me sleeping more than usual (according to her)

"Okayyyy, Bubba, I will get up now," I sighed defeatedly.

I picked her up and freshened up and got my day started.

When I first moved back to U.K, I was scared and worried about myself and my baby. Even though I got a job immediately, I couldn't stick around for too long.

Being pregnant with no one to support you is never easy.

But I'm never the one to back down.

I hate to admit it, I did really miss him so much.

There's not even a single day where I did not think about him. How could he ever do this to me? To us?

I was brought out of my thoughts by my daughter.

"Mommy, why can't I fly like a bird?" Her curious blue eyes locked onto mine, swirling with wonder, expecting an answer.

Moments like these make me realize that she's growing up too fast, and I'm so thankful for this life.

"Well, maybe it's because you don't have wings," I answered with a soft smile.

"Oh, we can't grow it?" She genuinely looks so gloomy right now.

"We can't, but hey, you have 2 legs, we can explore all we want. Nothing stops us. Yeah?"

"Yesss!!!" She grinned widely, making my heart swell with love.

"Now, can you help mommy by picking out your outfit, so we can go out?"

"Yeah! On it, mommy!"

She hopped away excitedly, her brown hair flying as she moved past me.

She's always energetic and full of life.

Later in the day, we strolled off at the children's park, and I played along with her.

And as per her request, went out to get ice cream.

My girl is a huge butterscotch fan. So anytime we get ice cream, she chooses it every time. She doesn't even want to try other flavors.

As I was waiting in the queue with Lyra in my arms, I heard someone calling out to me.

"Selena?"

Oh shit, I know that voice.

Having no other choice I turned around, only to come across Tyler Austin who also happens to be my ex-husband's best friend.

Which indirectly means he might along with 'you know who'

I'm fucking screwed.
