I cough into my elbow as I look at the vision board I've created for our wedding. We are getting so close and I'm trying to make sure everything is done or is going to be done within the next month.
I've been sleeping a little more to try to recover my body but we've managed. Christian's going to leave tomorrow and I've debated going with him but I think we'll sit this one out. I move the screen around to see the bigger picture. I think I'm going to be so proud of our wedding. It's taken a lot of effort to put together, especially with an infant.
I hear our garage door open, letting me know that Christian is home from his game. He comes in through the garage, "Didn't think you'd be up."
"She was giving me a bit of a hard time going to sleep. I wanted to double-check things for July and her birthday."
He comes by me, "Are you still planning on staying here this week?"
"Yeah, I don't think I should travel just yet. I think I have an alterations appointment too. I need to double-check on that though."
"Feeling okay?"
Being a mom doesn't stop when you're sick. All I've wanted to do the past few days is lay on the couch, watch movies, and recover. But that's hard to do when you've got an infant on the move. "Yeah. Less tired from being sick. More tired from chasing her around. I swear she's going to be walking soon and I don't like that. She destroyed the living room."
"Destroyed is a very strong word for someone so little."
"Christian, there were toys everywhere. Pillows were on the floor. Her blankets were everywhere. She has learned how to open the kitchen cabinets so those need to be baby-proofed. She was taking bowls out behind my back and moving them to the living room. I'm not complaining. It was adorable because I can't say no to her."
"Is this your way of telling me that I need to start baby-proofing the house?"
"Well, I don't have anything just yet and it's not a huge deal. I'll probably figure it out some time while you're gone."
I shut my iPad and slide it toward the middle of the island. I stood between his legs as he sat on one of the stools. I hug him, "You're still a little warm. Are you sure you feel alright?"
I nod, "Just tired. I'm going to take some NyQuil and knock out."
He laughs, "Good thing she sleeps through the night."
"Right?"
He kisses me, "Come on, let's go to bed."
He turns off the lights as I walk in front of him. I go into the bathroom to my stash of cold medicine. He comes into the bathroom as I wash my face. "What time are you leaving?"
"Probably 9."
I brush my teeth before putting my hair up. I've been in pajamas all day so need to change. Christian beats me to bed. "It's going to be a long season of ups and downs," he tells me as I get in bed, turning off the lamp next to me.
"Isn't it always?"
"I mean, yeah. But something feels off this year."
"With yourself? Are you hurt?"
"No. The team. We're doing fine but something feels off and there's talk of trading Corbin at the deadline or the end of the year."
"That's out of your control."
"People also want me gone because of my contract."
"Well, they're going to have to get over it. Sorry, but you're not leaving. You're not going to restructure your contract. You have so much deferred money. And since when do you read threads about you online?"
