"It looks really good," I tell Christian, walking into the nursery.
"You like it?"
"I love it. It looks incredible. It's perfect."
He smiles and takes a second to admire the room he just finished. It has cream-colored walls with an animal-themed wallpaper accent wall. The rest of the decorations are cohesive with the wallpaper: little specs of zoo and jungle animals.
We're using the same chair and crib we used for Amalia. I sit in the chair. He sits in front of me, "So close yet so far."
"Now I can start annoying you by reorganizing everything about ten times before they're here."
He smiles, "I can't wait."
"It's quite honestly my favorite part."
"I'm sure it is."
I hear Amalia's soft steps come running through our house, "Mommy! Daddy!"
We smile as she calls us out. "In here baby."
She comes running into the nursery and straight for my lap. She holds a small plastic bag in her hands as she climbs up my lap. I hold her on my knee, "Look what I got!"
She shows us the colorful rocks she got from the children's museum. "Look at those. They're so pretty."
She goes through each rock, making Christian hold all of them. "How was your day with Grandma?"
"Good!"
She shows me a pink quartz rock, "In my room?"
"Yeah. Dad can help you put them in your room."
"Should we go find spots for them?" he asks her.
"Yeah!"
She hops off of my lap and collects her rocks. Trying to sit on the edge of the chair, I feel my stomach tighten, making it uncomfortable to sit up straight.
It goes away when I loosen up and lean back in the chair. Christian holds his hand out for me to take. He pulls me up. I start to walk behind him and feel the same tightening again. I held onto the crib and tried to expand my body as much as I could.
Christian turns around as he walks out the door. "Maya? Are you okay?"
"Yeah. I think I'm just going to go lay down."
He nods, walking toward me again. He walks me back to our room, "I'll be right there, Mali."
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"Yeah. Just probably some Braxton-Hicks. I'm fine."
He kisses me, "Yell if you need something."
I nod, "I know."
Carrying the laundry basket in front of me, I take it from our laundry room to the nursery to start putting away all of their clothes. I have everything washed but I have multiple piles waiting for me to fold and put away before their arrival.
I set the basket down and walked to our room to grab my headphones and water. I carefully lower myself onto the floor and surround myself with clothes. This is fairly overwhelming but I want to get it today. I've got the entire house to myself. Christian, Alecia, and Amalia went to Discovery World today. So my plan is to get their room fully done and ready for their arrival.
I put on a country playlist and get to work. This seems like more work than it should be and I'm not loving that.
My music stopped playing because I was receiving a phone call. I look at my phone and see Bridget calling me. "Hey!"
