Maya~

Living with such a big secret sucks when your friends plan small parties to celebrate our husbands and boyfriends before they go onto the regular season. I have to dump the champagne or lie that I'm not feeling good. It's exhausting and I'm not a great liar.

Although I don't feel great today. I just have to get through this and then we can go home.

Christian comes up and puts his hand on my back, "You good?"

I nod. "Are you sure? You're burning up."

"I'm just hot. It's hot in here."

I give him the champagne flute, "I'm going to go stand outside."

I find the way out and stand against the siding. I'm so nauseous and hot. I put my hands on my knees and kept my head down.

"We can leave," Christian tells me, squatting next to me.

I shake my head, "No, it's fine."

He moves my hair, "No, we're leaving. You clearly don't feel good."

I nod, "Okay."

"I'll go pull the car up. Do you have everything?"

"Yeah."

I stand up straight. "Good?"

"Yeah."

He walks away from me as I find a spot to stand. I wave my phone in front of my face as a fan. He pulls the car around.

I open the door to the A/C blasting. I can feel the heat leaving my body. I turn the air down very quickly otherwise I'll get too cold.

I reach behind his seat because I know one of Mali's blankets is back here. "Do you need anything?"

"No."

He holds a hand on my leg. "We didn't have to leave."

"It's okay. I've had my fair share of these. I wasn't going to miss anything. It was no different from last year."

"Okay."

Christian kisses me awake. I feel him set Mali next to me. "I have to leave," he tells me.

"Okay."

Amalia climbs over me. I hear Christian turn on our TV. He turns on a kid's movie for her. He rubs my side, "Are you okay?"

"Tired."

He kisses my cheek, "Text me if you need something."

"I know."

He leans over me and kisses Amalia before leaving. "Momma okay?"

"I'm tired sweetie," I tell her, adjusting how I lay.

"Why?"

"I'm growing a baby and that baby takes a lot of Mom's energy."

"Baby?"

"Yeah. You're going to be a big sister in October."

She quietly watches her movie as I continue to lay in bed. I do not want to fall back asleep and I know I shouldn't. But I'd rather be lazy right now and spend time with my girl.

Soon enough, it won't be just her. We'll be a family of four in October. It could've been planned better but here we are.

"Well, looks like everything is really good. The pregnancy is 100% viable so I have no worries. I'm going to tell you the same thing I told you the last time around. You will know if something is wrong.
