"Master, I'm receiving a strange transmission." My head lifted slightly, not removing my eyes from the screen of the ship's scanned readings. "I can't seem to make it out, though." Ahsoka went on.
Suddenly the sound she was hearing began to play over the speaker system. My head perked up fully, recognising the distinct patterns almost immediately. But it didn't make any sense, I knew what the warbled noises were coming from but no full words were decipherable.
"That's Binary." I pointed out, shifting on my feet to glance at Anakin.
"Kid, try upping the volume." Wolffe offered over his shoulder, briefly taking his eyes off the void of space.
"Boost the volume, Goldie." Ahsoka told the droid that happily beeped in response.
"No, you're losing it." Anakin scolded the astromech, the noise fading out into static. I leant my hip against the back of the chair Rex was sitting in as Anakin basically stormed over to the panel and slapped his hand against the controls. The transmission cleared, the specific beeps of an astromech blaring through the speakers. "That's R2." Anakin cheered happily.
"Uh, that doesn't sound like R2." Ahsoka hummed, tilting her head to the side.
"It's him. I could never forget that voice." Anakin explained. A smile crossed my face when R7 chimed happily at the prospect of rescuing his friend from wherever he was.
"Now all we have to do is trace it." I said, turning to look down at Rex since he was at the controls able to do so. He nodded his head sharply, beginning to tap away at the buttons.
"Master, our orders were to find the Separatist listening post." Ahsoka reminded him.
"Perhaps R2 is at the listening post." Anakin explained to her calmly. "Did you consider that?"
"We have a lock on the droid's location, sir." Rex called over his shoulder, the equipment in front of us beeping. Anakin quickly leant over, analysing the bright blue screen.
"Prepare to jump to those coordinates." Anakin ordered his men at the helm of the small ship.
"Yes, sir." The man nodded. The ship all around starting to hum with the anticipation of being pulled into hyperspace. My eyes gravitated to the coordinates on the screen, the smallest smile forming when I recognised them as one's Jaxz had to offer me back on my own cruiser.
"Hold on, R2, old buddy. We're coming." I heard Anakin mumble.
---
Dropping back into realspace, my eyes met a greeny brown coloured planet looming above near a similarly coloured planet. Even from high above in space I could see the swirling forms of clouds that were creating the odd colouring that deep in the back of my head reminded me of Geonosis. A shiver ran up my spine, shaking my head to rid that planet from my thoughts.
"Sir, the last transmission came from that moon's upper atmosphere, directly ahead." Rex's words had me drawing back over to him. He tapped on the moon he was referring to on the screen, bringing up an image of it. My eyebrows furrowed. That's no moon.
"That's a Separatist battle sphere." Anakin glared down at the screen.
"I'm picking up a lot of encrypted chatter." Ahsoka spoke up behind us.
