Have you ever thought that fiction should always stay in fiction?

I have.

Multiple times.

This was also one of those moments - Kabir pointing a gun at my father, asking me to marry him.

I wanted to be proposed to, like in the movies, in the books, even if it were an arranged marriage, I wanted to be proposed to.

But this was not how I wanted the proposal to be!

"Kabir, stop it! Put the gun down!"

"This gun won't go down without a yes -" He clicked off the safety lock, "- or blood."

"What makes you think this would work?!"

"Is it not working?"

"Kabir-"

Bang!

He had shot the glass case behind papa, "Is. it. not. working?"

I stood in front of papa, "Shoot." I challenged, "Shoot Kabir, shoot now."

His eyes narrowed, brows furrowed.

I continued, "What happened? Scared?"

He switched to my mother, "You think I only have one target here?"

"I came here for a chance, a chance to beg for your forgiveness. I am selfish, Ishu. Ask me for my life and I would give it to you, but please, please don't reject me. You don't know what i have gone through in those two years, you don't know my side of the story. All i asked was for a chance, a chance to explain myself, to clear out all misunderstandings. But nevermind, we can do that after our marriage."

"Who said anything about her marrying you?!" Papa shouted, "My daughter is not going anywhere. Put the gun down before I call the police."

"This is between her and me."

"I am her father."

He pulled me behind him, "Shoot me, but you will not get her while I am alive."

Mumma also came forward, standing beside papa, "We will not let you force her while we're alive."

I teared up. Mumma - papa were really the best thing that has ever happened to me. I could not lose them.

I saw Kabir's grip tighten on the gun, his other hand clenched into a fist.

I could not lose them!

"Wait!" I stepped forward.

His fist unclenched. I sighed.

"I will marry you. Leave my parents out of this."

My parents looked at me in shock. I nodded, "Let me do this. If this is the only way to save you both, then I am ready. I will have no one left for me if I lost you."
