˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ The three started by twisting the Christmas lights back onto the wire, which took quite a while considering that there were lights strung around the entire house.
Jonathan hammered the bear trap into the floor while Kat hammered nails into Nancy's baseball bat. Nancy loaded two guns, one for her and one for Kat.
They poured a trail of gasoline from Will's room, straight to the bear trap, where the monster would be stuck long enough for them to light it up.
Now all the needed to do was draw the monster to them.
Jonathan got three knives from the kitchen and gave one to each girl.
"Remember," Jonathan said, looking at Kat and Nancy. "Straight into Will's room. And—"
"Don't step on the trap," Kat continued.
Nancy nodded. "Wait for the yo-yo to move."
"Then"—Jonathan flicked open the lighter, revealing the flame—"Alright. You guys ready?"
Kat just nodded. If she had said anything, she would've said the only words that were parading inside of her mind. Do it for Barb, do it for Barb, do it for Barb, do it for Barb, do it for Barb.
Her thoughts were put to a halt when she sliced her palm with the knife. She winced at the pain, secretly fascinated with the way her blood dripped and pooled out of the fresh cut.

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ As Kat bandaged her hand, she was hyper aware of every small sound. There was a creak outside near the front porch.
Kat sharply inhaled, turning to face Nancy and Jonathan. "Did you hear that?"
Jonathan shrugged her off, still wrapping a bandage around Nancy's hand. "It's just the wind."
