˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ Steve pulled to the side of the road, parking in a grassy field.
Everyone scattered around as they found their own groups to craft their weapons.
Eddie and Dustin made shields, Lucas and Erica made spears, Max, Robin, and Nancy were fillings bottles of kerosene to make fireballs, and Steve and Kat were sawing off the barrel of Kat's shotgun.
Kat kneeled at the end of the gun, pulling a hacksaw through the end of the barrel. Steve held the base of it, making sure it stayed in place for Kat.
She thought back to when her, Nancy, and Jonathan fought the Demogorgan back in sophomore year. As Kat sawed off the barrel of the shotgun, she remembered how she couldn't bring herself to shoot it, how she was frozen in place. She felt scared then. Now all she felt is anger. They have to kill him. End this.
"Is this legal?" Steve asked with a small chuckle.
"I'm pretty sure it's a felony," Kat said, sawing the last part thin. She looked back at Steve, flipping the saw around in her hand. "It ensures one thing, though." Kat whacked the barrel of the gun with the end of the saw. "I won't miss."
"Hell no, you won't."
The sun was noticeably lower in the sky once everyone was ready.
Everyone was suited up in hunting gear, their backpacks filled with any type of weapon. Axes, hammers, knives, scissors, any of the sort.
It was a completely silent drive; Kat could only hear the pounding of her heart in her ears. Though she wouldn't have told anyone, she was scared.
The first stop was the Creel house, where they'd drop off Max, Lucas, and Erica. Everyone else would go into the Upside Down.
