On Y/N's day off, she decided to spend it with Rodrick who wanted to show her a few songs he'd been working on.

She spent a few hours in the garage with him, listening to him play. Meanwhile, Lexi was messaging her like crazy.

Lexi🫶: MY BIRTHDAY IS SOONNNN

Y/N: YESS I KNOWWW
Y/N: IM VERY EXCITEDDD

Lexi🫶: YAYYY
Lexi🫶: IM GOING TO HAVE AN AMAZINF PARTYYYY

Y/N: YAYYY

Lexi🫶: IM GOING TO GET WASTEDDD

Y/N: Yeah, let's not do that!

Lexi🫶: DONT BE A PARTY POOPER
Lexi🫶: GET WASTED WITH ME

Y/N: Absolutely not!

Lexi🫶: booo
Lexi🫶: you're a meanie

Y/N chuckled to herself before she shut off her phone and turned her attention to Rodrick who was in the midst of a very intense drum solo.

Once he was done, he turned to her and smiled. "What do you think?" he asked.

Y/N clapped. "Very amazing," she replied with a smile.

Rodrick bowed before he wiped the sweat off his forehead with the back of his hand. "I really want to preform again," he told her. "I asked if we could at Lexi's party but she said we'd all be too busy drinking. Which is stupid and unfair because not all of us will be."

Y/N gave him a half-hearted smile. "I can try and look for gigs for you," she said.

"Thanks, Y/N/N, but that's okay," he told her. "I don't want to distract you from your job."

"Oh, Rodrick, you wouldn't distract me at all. I'd love to—"

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

"Come in," said Rodrick. The door opened to reveal Mrs. Heffley. "Oh, hi, Mom."

"Hey, sweetie, I just wanted to come and get you," she said. "Your father just messaged me and told me that he has a surprise for you and your brothers."

"Oh?" Rodrick stood up and walked over to Y/N, holding out his hand for her.

She let him carry her to her feet and the two followed Mrs. Heffley out of the house with Manny and Greg.

"Are they ready, hon?" Mr. Heffley's voice called.

"Yes, sweetie," Mrs. Heffley hollered back. She turned to her kids. "Aren't you excited?"

"What is it?" Greg asked.

"It's a surprise," Mrs. Heffley replied. "Even I don't know what it is."

"How exciting," Rodrick mumbled, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"I know!" Mrs. Heffley squealed. "I'm very excited!"

"Introducing the newest member of the Heffley family!" Mr. Heffley yelled as he ran towards everyone else. Their mouths fell open when they saw a dog in Mr. Heffley's arms.

Greg smiled and made his way over to the dog. He pat the dog's head and smiled.

Rodrick furrowed his brows and glanced between both his parents.

"Oh... oh, Frank," Mrs. Heffley said, the disappointment in her voice evident for the whole world. "I really wished you had checked with me first. This is—I think it's more of a family decision."
