Diana stormed into her next class, her heart still racing from the confrontation with Ava. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, but her mind was still reeling. She couldn't shake off the feeling that she had just made things worse.
As she took her seat, she glanced around the room, her eyes scanning for Krystal. But Krystal wasn't there. Diana's heart sank, realising that her friend was probably alone, dealing with the fallout of the rumours.
Diana felt a pang of guilt and worry. She wanted to be there for Krystal, to support her and let her know that she wasn't alone. But she was hesitant, fearing that her presence would only fuel the rumours further or Krystal might be uncomfortable after what she heard.
Just as the teacher started the lesson, Diana made up her mind. She couldn't just sit there and do nothing. She had to be there for Krystal, no matter what.
She raised her hand, asking the teacher for permission to go to the bathroom. As she stepped out of the classroom, she quickly made her way to Krystal's locker, hoping to find her there.
When she arrived, Krystal was leaning against the locker, her eyes fixed on the floor. Diana's heart went out to her , seeing the pain and confusion etched on her face.
"Hey," Diana said softly, approaching Krystal. "I'm so sorry about what happened earlier. I feel like I made things worse."
Krystal looked up, her eyes welling up with tears. "It's not your fault, Diana. It's just...I don't know how to deal with this."
Diana nodded, feeling a surge of empathy. “I understand..”
“Kris” she looked at her , making eye contact.
“We know we have nothing between us, isn't that enough for OUR friendship?”
“Let's ignore what others are saying.”
“We must be clear to each other.”
“So can you ignore it?” Diana's eyes narrowed for an answer from the other side.
Krystal nodded, assuring it.
“And I'm so sorry, Kris. I didn't mean to yell, but I couldn't just stand there and let her...let her…”
“You stood for me.. that means a lot for me.. thanks Dee” finally Krystal muttered.
Diana felt a weight lift off her shoulders as she gazed into Krystal's eyes, the air thick with emotion. The fear of losing her ultimate best friend, subsided slowly. And, with the truth finally out and the rumours laid to rest, she could breathe again.
Diana's heart swelled with gratitude as she reached out and hugged Krystal tightly. “I'm so sorry,” she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. “I was so scared of losing you.”
Krystal hugged her back and replied “That never gonna happen”.
The two friends stood there for a moment, looking at each other, the only sound the quiet hum of the school hallway. Then, Krystal spoke up.
"Hey, Dee?"
"Yeah?"
“Let's make a promise to always be honest with each other, no matter what.”
Diana nodded enthusiastically. “Absolutely, Kris. I promise.”
Krystal grinned. “Good. Because I don't know what I'd do without my partner in crime.”
Diana laughed, feeling a sense of joy and relief wash over her. "You'll never have to find out, Kris. We're in this together, always.
