Krystal didn’t look up. “You're staring.”
“Yeah, well,” Diana said, yawning dramatically. “I woke up sore and starving. Figured I’d watch the woman responsible make me breakfast.”
Krystal snorted. “I did all the work, huh?”
“You did straddle me like a goddess of chaos, yeah.”
Krystal flipped a pancake with extra force. “You didn’t exactly complain.”
Diana pushed off the counter, walking over to trap her from behind. Her arms wrapped around Krystal’s waist, lips brushing the shell of her ear. “Mmm. Still not complaining.”
Krystal tried to hide her grin. “Touch me again like that and the pancakes will burn.”
“You say that like it’s a threat.”
Krystal turned her head slightly. “You’re such a brat.”
“And you love it,” Diana replied, reaching out to steal a piece of crispy pancake off the plate. Krystal slapped her hand playfully.
“Diana!”
Diana shoved it in her mouth, chewing proudly. “Mmm. My girl can cook.”
Krystal froze for a second at my girl, eyes flicking to Diana’s with something a little softer, a little warmer. Diana noticed.
“You okay?” she asked, voice lower now.
Krystal shrugged, smile tugging at her lips. “Yeah. Just didn’t expect to hear that.”
Diana leaned in, kissed the corner of her mouth, then whispered, “Get used to it.”
Krystal playfully pushed her away with the spatula. “Sit down before I kiss you into next week.”
Diana raised a brow. “Is that a challenge?”
Krystal rolled her eyes. “It’s a warning.”
Diana sauntered over to the couch with a smirk. “God, I missed this... You and your threats.”
Krystal called after her, “And you’re lucky I didn’t make you sleep on the couch!”
“You didn’t seem to mind where I was last night,” Diana shot back.
Silence.
Then Krystal yelled, “Shut up and eat your pancakes!”
Diana grinned as the plate hit the coffee table in front of her. She pulled Krystal down onto her lap, kissed her shoulder, and whispered, “Best pancakes I’ve ever had.”
Krystal rolled her eyes, cheeks pink. “You’re hopeless.”
“But I’m yours,” Diana said softly.
Krystal didn’t argue that.
Diana sat on the couch, fork in hand, picking at the last bit of pancake while Krystal lounged across from her, legs stretched out, hair tousled and eyes still sleepy.
After a minute, Diana glanced up with a mischievous smirk.
“So,” she said slowly, stretching her arms, “you planning to join me in the shower, or should I just pretend to drop the soap and hope you come save me?”Krystal snorted. “Wow. Really?”
Diana leaned forward, chin on her palm. “What? I thought best friends shared everything.”
Krystal rolled her eyes dramatically. “We’ve shared enough in the last twelve hours to write a novel.”
Diana stood up and walked over, standing in front of her with that familiar cocky tilt to her head. “One steamy shower scene won’t hurt the plot.”
She bent down, hands gently tugging Krystal up by her wrists, pressing a teasing kiss to the corner of her lips. “C’mon,” she whispered. “Just five minutes... or fifteen, depending on how cooperative you are.”
Krystal pretended to consider. “Hmm… nope.”
And then—push!—Krystal shoved Diana, who stumbled backward with a surprised laugh straight into the bathroom doorway.Diana’s laugh echoed off the tile. “Rude!”
“You’ll survive,” Krystal called, arms crossed as she stood smugly in the hallway. “Clean up nice, Ryes.”
Diana poked her head out of the bathroom, towel hanging off one shoulder. “Oh, I always do. And after that performance last night? I should walk out here glowing.”
Krystal tossed a pillow at her, still grinning.
But then Diana’s voice softened. “Hey... I do need to head out after I shower. Got someone to meet.”
Krystal’s smile faltered. “Who?”
Diana hesitated for half a second, then said, “Elina.”
That name dropped like a stone between them.
Krystal’s posture changed. Her eyes darkened just slightly, lips parting like she had something to say—but didn’t. Instead, she looked away, pulling her sleeves over her hands and sitting down slowly.
Diana noticed. Of course she did.
“Hey,” she said gently, stepping back out of the bathroom, now serious. “It’s not like that. I just... I need to talk to her. Clear some stuff. Be honest.”
Krystal kept her eyes on the floor. “You don’t owe me an explanation.”
“Maybe not,” Diana replied, “but I want to give you one anyway.”
She crouched down in front of Krystal, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “I’m not going there to rekindle anything. I’m going because I want to make it clear that it’s over. For real. So that when I come back to you, there’s no ghost hanging between us.”
Krystal looked at her, eyes a little glossy. “So you’re really done with her?”
Diana gave a small smile, lifting Krystal’s hand to her lips. “I was done the moment I realized your lips tasted better than any memory.”
Krystal let out a breath of something between a laugh and a sigh. “You and your lines.”
Diana stood again, walking backward into the bathroom with a wink. “You love 'em.”
Krystal called after her, still soft but genuine, “Just don’t take too long.”
And Diana’s reply, just before the door clicked shut,
“I won’t. I’ve got someone waiting who makes pancakes and steals my heart in sleep.”
