The city was cloaked in darkness, its towering skyscrapers cutting jagged silhouettes against the starless sky. The night was chilly, the kind of cold that seemed to seep into the bones and make every breath visible in the crisp air. On a rooftop overlooking a high-security facility, two figures stood apart, their bodies tense and their expressions a stark contrast to the usual camaraderie that defined their partnership.

Wade Wilson, clad in his Deadpool suit, paced back and forth, his usual flippant demeanor absent. His face, hidden behind the mask, was a mask of indifference, but the tension in his posture spoke volumes. Peter Parker, in his Spidey suit, stood a few feet away, his gaze fixed on the facility below. The distance between them was not just physical; it was emotional, a chasm that had grown over the past few days.

"Got the plan ready?" Wade asked, his voice clipped, as if he was deliberately trying to create space between them. There was no hint of the usual joking tone, just a cold, professional edge.

Peter glanced over at him, his eyes hidden behind his mask. "Yeah, all set. We'll go in, disable the security systems, and get out before they even know we were here."

Wade nodded curtly, not meeting Peter's gaze. "Right. Let's get this over with then."

Peter felt the familiar ache in his chest. The coldness between them was palpable, a sharp contrast to the warmth that once defined their partnership. He knew Wade was acting this way deliberately, trying to push him away, but the reasons remained unspoken. Peter tried to ignore the sting of Wade's behavior, focusing instead on the mission.

The plan was straightforward but risky. They had to infiltrate the facility, bypass a series of high-tech security systems, and extract crucial data. Peter and Wade moved through the night with practiced precision, their movements synchronized as they navigated the shadows. The mission was smooth, but the tension between them remained, a constant undercurrent of unspoken words and unresolved feelings.

As they approached the final stage of the mission, Wade's cold demeanor seemed to intensify. He was terse, his responses curt, and he avoided any unnecessary interaction with Peter. It was as if he was determined to keep Peter at arm's length, to make him feel the sting of their fractured relationship.

Peter, for his part, tried to stay focused. He could sense the distance but chose to ignore it, concentrating on the task at hand. The facility's security systems were proving more challenging than anticipated, but they managed to work through them with a combination of skill and teamwork.

Then, without warning, the atmosphere shifted. A sharp, piercing sound broke through the quiet, and Peter felt a sudden, intense pain in his chest. He gasped, looking down to see blood staining his suit, the red spreading quickly.

"Peter!" Wade's voice was a harsh whisper, a blend of panic and disbelief.

Peter's vision blurred as he stumbled, falling off the stairs of the security place to the rooftop. The same rooftop of the denied kiss. The pain was overwhelming, a brutal, searing agony that made it difficult to think clearly. He tried to call out, but his voice was weak, choked off by the pain. Wade was at his side in an instant, his usual joking manner gone, replaced by a desperate urgency.

"No, no, no," Wade muttered, kneeling beside Peter. His hands trembled as he tried to apply pressure to the wound, his face a mask of anguish. "Stay with me, Peter. Stay with me, please."

Peter's breaths were ragged, each one a struggle. He could see Wade's face, the raw emotion etched into his features. The pain was a constant, throbbing presence, and Peter's vision was fading. He reached up, his hand trembling as he touched Wade's face, trying to offer some comfort even in his agony.
