"So then you came all this way to find us?"

My mothers and my siblings were sitting across from me and Tails and Shadow in the sitting room of the palace.

"Yeah, it was quite the ordeal Mama! But I'm so happy to see you all again!" I said.

"It's pretty crazy that you worked with Mobians, little brother, considering how you disliked them when you were younger." Said Manic.

"Yeah...hehe..." Sonic said, nervously glancing at Shadow.

"We're very happy to see you here, safe though, Sonic. And thank you, Captain Shadow, for protecting our son." Said Mama, with that motherly smile that made me always feel comforted.

"It was my pleasure, your Majesty." Shadow said with a polite bow.

The guards had shown the rest of the crew to rooms to stay in for the night, and my mothers asked to talk to us first before dinner.

Shadow and I hadn't confessed to being together yet, but we would get to that later.

"Mama, Mother, Eomma...I do have to ask you something though." I said, fidgeting a bit in nervousness.

"Yes, my son?" Mama asked.

I breathed in then sat up straight.

"When we escaped from the cove with the emerald...it reacted strangely when I held it. We tried to see it's reaction with the other sirens on the ship but it never responded the same...do you know why that is?" I asked.

My mothers all looked at me with slightly wide eyes and then Mama sighed.

"Sonic it's time we told you something..."

She stood up and motioned for me to follow her.

We all got up and followed my mother down corridors of the palace.

We stopped at two large doors and she threw them open. Inside was the emerald on a pedestal.

"This emerald has been passed down from generation to generation and carries immense power...it has never truly been used to it's full potential until...one day."

She placed a hand on it and picked it up.

I watched, confused and unknowing what she was about to tell me.

"What do you remember about Aunt Etona?" She asked, as she walked over.

That was strange...Aunt Etona was my Mom's sister, why were we talking about her?

Besides, she was killed by siren hunters ages ago...

"Well...she'd constantly watch me while you and Mom were busy with royal duties, and before she was killed by siren hunters, she'd always come to visit and give us presents from other kingdoms." I answered, folding my arms.

"Yeah! Aunt Etona was the best...it was sad when she was killed..." Sighed Sonia.

"Yes but...do any of you remember the day Etona was killed?" Asked Mom, walking over to stand next to Mama.

I tried to remember but...for some reason...it came up blank.

"Uh...no actually...I remember you told me how she died but...I...can't remember what happened that day..." I said.

"I remember! You and Mom came rushing into the palace...you wouldn't let us see her for a while and...you brought the emerald in where you were keeping her...right?" Said Manic.

My moms looked down at the emerald with expressions that looked almost guilty.

"Yes but...it wasn't Aunt Etona." Said Mama.
