[three hours after the end of the last chapter]
Once again, Wednesday wakes up from her nap. She has been in and out of sleep all day but finally she feels as if things are looking up for her. Since she took the pill that Enid gave her, (and proceeded to clock out for the next few hours), she doesn't feel as sick.
She isn't 100% back, but her throat is less scratchy, her head feels slightly lighter, and she can finally breathe out of her nose again. Thank god.
Wednesday takes a satisfying breath in through her cleared nostrils before slowly sitting up. She remembers in fragments what happened since Enid found her last night.
She remembers Enid carrying her... and holding her to sleep. Wednesday feels her face redden at the thought. She also remembers Enid leaving the morning after and how cold she felt without her wolf. She recalls the medicine; how off Enid was acting. Wednesday has never met someone as bubbly and cuddly as Enid, so for her to deny Wednesday's affection was very odd. She needs to get to the bottom of this.
Wednesday slowly pulls the covers off of her and stretches her feet over the side of the bed. Her bones feel as if they haven't moved in ages. She looks down and realizes her braids have begun to come undone. She quickly re-weaves them with wide eyes... while as wide as Wednesday's eyes get that is. Did Enid see her hair like that?
Once her braids are back to her liking, Wednesday walks over to the bathroom and brushes her teeth. Her father always said that she needed to take care of her strongest natural weapons, and Wednesday won't deny that biting has come in handy at least once or twice in her life. Especially when it came to Thing attempting to put makeup on her in her sleep... that must have been Enid's idea.
Finally, Wednesday makes her way out into the hallway and heads down the spiral stairs to the main room. She spots Enid sitting on the couch with her head tucked away towards her phone. There she is.
"Enid." Wednesday clears her throat once she reaches the bottom of the stairs.
Enid jumps slightly in her seat, "Wednesday!" She snaps her head over, "I didn't hear you."
Wednesday steps further towards the couch but still keeps her distance. She enjoyed giving Enid a little spook but she needs to observe Enid closely to see what is going on. "Quiet footsteps are the best for assassinations." Wednesday declares, her face back to its normal blank expression.
Enid aches to know what feelings are hiding behind those dark eyes.
Enid smiles weakly, "I see you are feeling better. But why are you trying to assassinate me?" She jokes. Her voice is still gravelly, but better than before.
"If I can take down a werewolf, I can take down nearly anything," Wednesday replies. Enid can't decide if Wednesday is adding onto the joke or being serious- she would prefer one much more than the other.
"Oh of course," Enid scoffs and then looks back down at her phone. Wednesday stands still and stares. Enid tries to ignore her but it's as if Wednesday's eyes are burning through her skin.
After a minute or two Enid sighs, "Are you just gonna watch me Addams?" She asks teasingly, looking back up at her roomie.
"Is that an issue?" Wednesday questions.
"It's just a little creepy," Enid laughs. Despite all that has happened to her today, Wednesday can still make her smile.
"Creepy is my forte," Wednesday explains, "but if it would make you more comfortable, then I can sit down to stare at you instead."
"What if you didn't stare at all?" Enid rolls her eyes with a grin.
"Well then how could I assassinate you if I am not watching you?" Wednesday replies. Deep down she enjoys this banter but she won't let herself reveal it.
