“Well, that’s good,” Jay responds. “Because I didn’t get a chance to do this last night.” And then, all of a sudden, he’s so fucking close that his expensive cologne, probably Armani or something, fills Jungwon’s nostrils relentlessly and then, before Jungwon can even blink or, like, slap himself to make sure that this isn’t a hallucination, their lips are touching and—fuck. Jay’s nipping at his bottom lip and his hands are on Jungwon’s waist and Jungwon can’t fucking breathe but he thinks he might actually die if Jay pulls away anytime in the next few business days.
Eventually, Jay does pull away and, no, Jungwon doesn’t die, but he chases after Jay’s lips a little before he catches himself.
“Cute,” Jay whispers. Jungwon tries his best to will away the blood rushing to his cheeks.
“That was…” Jungwon starts in between heavy breaths.
“Good, I hope?” Jay asks with a smile.
Jungwon nods, still heaving a little. “That’s one word to describe it.”
“Don’t boost my ego too much,” Jay says, looking much too proud of himself.
“Yeah, yeah.” Jungwon pauses for a moment, and then, “I have a question.”
“Shoot.”
“You like me, right? I didn’t, like, hallucinate that or anything?”
Jay looks like he’s trying really hard to repress a laugh. “That’s your question?”
“No, I just—just answer it, oh my god.”
“Okay. Yeah, I do, then. If all this,” he gestures vaguely, “hasn’t made that clear already.”
“So then why have you been such an ass to me? Since freshman year, you’ve, like, been on my ass about that whole penis sniffing thing. You only dropped it recently. Did you stop ‘cause you caught feelings?”
Jay’s eyebrows furrow. “You haven’t figured it out yet? I thought I was pretty obvious.”
“Figured what out? I’m so fucking lost right now.”
“I was an ass to you ‘cause I liked you. Since I led your freshman orientation, actually. I thought you were really cute.”
No way in hell. “You—you liked me since then? I call bullshit.”
“You can’t call bullshit! How the fuck would you know?”
“You were such an ass! Remember physics last year? That was literally hell. You wouldn’t stop fucking bothering me! And you teased me about the dick thing every single fucking chance you got.”
“Look, I was literally over the fucking moon when you said that whole thing about me at the party, okay? Like, what are the chances that one really cute freshman was interested in me? And I just didn’t know how to handle a crush. I’m not good with feelings, y’know? So I just made fun of you.”
“Wait, you’re telling me that all that crap was just pulling on my pigtails bullshit?”
Jay nods sheepishly. “Yeah, pretty much. I’m not proud to admit it. I was so stupid, right? I don’t know why I thought that would, like, make you wanna date me or something. Sunghoon knocked some sense into me when I told him I’d be working with you at the bakery back when I first started.”
“He told you that acting like a normal human being would make me more likely to date you?”
“Yep,” Jay says, popping the ‘p.’ “I guess he ended up being right.”
“No kidding,” Jungwon says, a laugh escaping his lips.
“I guess this is where I apologize, then,” Jay says, his hands in his pockets. “Sorry for being such an ass to you for so long. I just had a really big boner for you. Like, emotionally.”
“You really have a way with words,” Jungwon deadpans.
“What can I say? I’m a renaissance man.”
Jungwon rolls his eyes. “I’ll forgive you, I guess. Mostly just ‘cause I really can’t think straight when you wear your hair like this.”
A smirk appears on Jay’s face. “And why would that be?”
Jungwon has no shame left at this point. “‘Cause you look stupid gorgeous,” he says with his whole chest. He instantly regrets it when he sees the smug look that’s appeared on Jay’s face at his words.
“Stupid gorgeous, huh? Never thought I’d hear those words from you, honestly.”
“Shut up.”
“I’m actually so flattered right now. I’m not gonna let go of this for years, you don’t even know—”
“Shut up,” Jungwon grumbles. “I take it back.”
“You can’t do that,” Jay says in a sing-songy tone.
“Seriously, shut up before I abandon you for cream puffs I’m supposed to be making right now. They’re much better company, I swear.”
Jay raises an eyebrow. “Yeah?”
Jungwon nods. “Not as annoying, that’s for sure.”
“But can they do this?”
And then, without any warning, Jay leans in and presses their lips together for a second time. This time, Jungwon kisses back enthusiastically, lacing his fingers through Jay’s hair.
I could get used to this, he thinks as Jay pulls away, a string of saliva hanging from both of their lips. I could get really used to this.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought,” Jay says, because he’s perpetually a little shit.
Jungwon kicks him in the shins.
