AE-RA WAS BACKIN HER SCHOOL uniform, seated with the "Big Three" in their private hangout room, a luxurious space tucked away in the elite Jooshin Academy. At first, she'd resisted their invitation, reluctant to get close to the school's most exclusive group. But after they offered her a cafe latte and her favorite strawberry shortcake, her resolve weakened, and she stayed.
"Any classes left today?" He-ra asked, Ae-ra looked up at He-ra as she took a bite of her shortcake, the sweetness offering a brief moment of comfort.
"I'm done for the day," Woo-jin replied, his gaze drifting toward Ri-an, who was intently staring at his phone. "But I think Ri-an has one more, right?"
Ri-an glanced at his wristwatch, seemingly preoccupied. "Yeah, Social Studies. Starts at four."
Ae-ra took a sip of her latte and glanced down at her own schedule. "Same as Ri-an," she said simply. Despite the warm treat and the casual atmosphere, Ae-ra felt a strange tension around her. Something about the three was unsettling—almost as if there was an invisible wall between them and the rest of the world, herself included. Are they hiding something, or am I just being paranoid? she wondered, releasing a quiet sigh that didn't escape Ri-an's notice.
Moments later, Woo-jin's phone buzzed. He quickly read the message, his lips curling into a smirk before he stood to leave. His sudden exit caught Ae-ra and He-ra's attention. "He's been acting strange lately," He-ra mused, watching him disappear through the door. "Do you think he's seeing someone?"
Ri-an shrugged, unfazed. He-ra turned her attention back to Ae-ra, casually dropping another name. "And Jae-i? Is she still ignoring you?"
Ae-ra's ears perked up. Jae-i? She thought, narrowing her gaze slightly. Could she mean Jung Jae-i of the Jaeyul Group? Ae-ra had never met Jae-i, but she knew of her family's business empire. Jooshin Academy was a small world, but one filled with influential families whose names she'd been taught to recognize.
