You Make It Easy

Worst Way.

I stand between his legs, "You're welcome."

He goes back to our room after kissing me. I wipe down the counters and tidy up. "She's asking for you," Alecia tells me as she comes into the kitchen.

"Yeah?"

She smiles and nods, "Yeah."

I walk back to her room. "What's up Mali?" I ask quietly.

"Lay down."

She scoots over and gives me space to lie next to her. I can't help but lay next to my baby. "Did you have a fun time at the zoo?"

"Yeah."

"What did you see?"

"Bears and birds."

"Did you see any monkeys?"

"Ooh ooh, aah aah!"

I smile at her reenactment of the monkeys. She pats my stomach, "Baby?"

"Yeah, the baby is getting big."

She smiles, "Boy?"

"We don't know. Do you want a baby brother or baby sister?"

"Brother."

"We'll find out in a couple of months. But it's getting late for you. You need to go to sleep, okay?"

"Yeah, mommy."

I kiss her, "I love you."

"Love you."

I get out of her bed and make sure her sound machine is on. I quietly close her door behind me. I turn the hallway light off, "Goodnight Alecia."

"Night, hon."

I change in our closet and toss my clothes in the hamper. I clean up our closet and put away any clothes on the floor. I hold my hand under my bump as this baby feels extra heavy today.

I brush my teeth and put my hair up. I wash my face and can feel the back pain starting to ramp up. I know this kid is going to be huge.

Again, I clean up in the bathroom. I think I'm starting to nest. Any small mess I want to start cleaning. I don't expect Christian to clean right now. He can't even lift our daughter so I don't expect him to bend down and clean.

I turn the light off. He sits on the edge of the bed. He nods his head at me, "Come here."

"What's up?"

Again, I stand between his legs. "Are you feeling okay?"

"I should be asking you that."

He shakes his head, waiting for my answer. "I'm okay."

He kisses me, holding his hands on my hips. He taps his fingers along my stomach, waiting for a response. "Don't rile them up."

I feel him smile as I hug him. He kisses my collarbone and neck as I stand here. "I love you," he tells me between kisses.

I pull back and look down at him, "I love you too. Let's go to bed. I'm tired and my body hurts."

He smiles, "Yes, ma'am."

I let him get in bed before I shut the light off. He waits for me to get comfortable next to him. "What did she want?"

"To talk with her mom and have me lay in bed with her."

"Wow, aren't you special?"

I smile and turn to him. He holds his hand on my stomach, "What happens if I can't help out once they're here?"
