Ekko was considering if he should go meet Death or not.
He wanted answers, but he was disgusted by her. Not exactly by her as a person, he does not know anything about her. He is disgusted by Death, who seemingly takes people away as if it was nothing. In his eyes, she was heartless and cruel, loathsome even.
But he still ended up going. He wanted answers... No, he needed them. He needed answers just so he could have some peace of mind. And there are questions maybe she could answers. As much as he does not trust her, he can't help it but be curious. Something deep within his heart told him to just go and get this over with. So he did as his heart told him to.
Ekko was sitting on the ground, waiting for Death. He never thought he would ever do that, he hated the thought of death, and here he is, waiting to talk to Death. How ironic.
But he couldn't help it. He saw multiple people dying in his life, and he saw Benzo die when he was at such an age that he shouldn't even had to think about death. But that's just how life is, and maybe Death can tell him reasons to make it worth it for him to experience all this.
So he waited for her. And he didn't have to wait for long.
"Feel free to ask" Ekko heard a female voice say beside him suddenly. It caught him off guard, and he even jumped a little in surprised when he saw her sitting down next to him. He didn't even hear her coming, she was just there already. "Ask anything."
"How come I didn't hear you?" Ekko asked suspiciously with his eyebrows furrowed.
"You were deep in thoughts" she answered as she didn't look at him, but her voice was full of patience and calmness. "I can tell you have a lot of questions, ask them."
"You said that it isn't as easy to fix Zaun as I think it is. I already had a feeling, but I was in denial. All I know is that Zaun is like this because of the people in charge" Ekko started, but he kept his guard up around her, even though he knew she had no intention of hurting him. At least he hoped so. "Explain why it's complicated. And how can I fix Zaun?"
"Silco is the Eye of Zaun, he is important for the undercity. There's no denying for that" she started. "But his death wouldn't do much for Zaun. Maybe it would bring an even bigger chaos and even worse people would fight for his place so they could have the power he had. But for Zaun to be fixed, it needs someone with a heart to take the 'throne'. It needs a symbol of hope or something similiar to that."
"Hope? Why would Zaun need a symbol of hope?" Ekko asked back.
"Because Zaun is hopeless" she answered as she turned her head a bit towards Ekko, but her face was still hidden behind her mask and hood. "Everyone here was treated like trash by Pilties, and they lost hope. Zaunites are always gonna be nothing in the eyes of Pilties, that's why we need someone with a heart. Because it's rare even in Piltover. Silco has good intentions, but he got blinded by power and the execution is wrong. He stopped having a heart long time ago."
