✨ Liliana Roxelle Dubois ✨

"Mother? Father? Can I talk to you both about something I find important? Please?" I asked, making myself known in the living where they were sitting in their chairs.

"We are quite busy at the moment," my mother said, looking up from the computer she was working with.

"Please? It would only take just a second," I said, looking at both of them.

"Liliana, your mother said we are busy and that means we are busy. We will discuss your matter over dinner," my father said, finally speaking up.

"Um, yes, that will be fine," I said, they smiled and nodded before heading back to work, "I may go to Annalise's house for a bit, do call me if I'm not back for dinner in time,"

"Be careful my darling," I heard my father say as I walked away. I grabbed my keys from the dish and walked out the door. I unlocked my vehicle before sliding in and starting it. I looked in the rearview mirror as I backed out of the driveway, I waved to the security guard, Bryan, that my father keeps posted at the gate.

It was a short drive to Annalise's house, I parked right beside her car before getting out and making my way to her door. I waited for someone to open the door after I knocked. We've been friends long enough to where I could walk in if I wanted to but they could be like my family and shoot someone if they did that. Before I knew it, her younger brother, Evan, was opening the door.

"Lili? What are you doing here?" He asked, opening the door wide enough for me to slip by him.

"I just needed to talk to Anna, it's rather important," I said, nervously. He asked no more questions and let me go straight to her room. I stopped at her door and knocked. I learned my lesson once and I have never just walked in again.

"Come in," I heard. I pushed open her door and shut it before walking over to her bed and flopping on it. I grabbed the closest pillow and shoved it in my face.

"Alright, what's going on in that head of yours?" She asked, I heard her toss her phone onto the bed and felt her sit up straight. I removed the pillow from my head and turned my head to face her.

"I have to wait until dinner to tell them I'm moving to Italy," I said, placing my arms over my eyes. This has been the hardest thing to keep from them and yet they are making it harder by making me keep it longer.

"Did they not let you tell them this morning?" She asked, making a confused expression.

"They were busy, doing god knows what for their fucking business. That I'm still not allowed to know about," I said.

"Oh I can tell you are stressed, you just said fucking," she said teasing me. I tossed the pillow that covered my face briefly at her, missing horribly.

"How do you think they are going to take the news?" She asked, laying on her side before looking at me again.

"They'll try to stop me from going or throw a fit about their only daughter to Italy," I said, sighing. She nodded and took a second before she responded.

"You are going there for school, they should be proud of that," she said, throwing her hands up.

"I'm still not sure about the schooling but I mainly want to leave here so I can get away from them," I said, "don't get me wrong I love my parents to death but I can only take so much before losing my sanity," she was about to answer but my phone rudely interrupted her. I pulled it out to see that it was my father calling.

"Hold onto that thought," I said before answering him, "hello?"

"Lili, we are getting ready to head to Le Violon d'Ingres for dinner," he said, "are you meeting us there or do we need to come pick you up?"

"No, no I'll meet you there, I'll see you in a moment, love you bye," I said. I let him say his bye and then hung up. I turned to Annalise and sighed.

"I'm sorry to cut our time short but they are leaving now to head to the restaurant for dinner," I said, jumping up from her bed.

"Sure, sure," she said rolling her eyes, "good luck and I love you,"

"I love you too," I said, blowing her a kiss as I walked over to her door, "I'll let you know how it goes after,"

"You better," she shouted as I left her room. With that, I made my way out to my car and pulled out of her driveway. I turned on relaxing music knowing that this dinner might not end well. I tried to release the stress that was already building up before I pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant. I locked my door and made my way up to the door. Instantly, I found my parents already sitting at a table waiting for me to arrive. I made my way over to them and sat directly across from them.

"I hope you don't mind, but we already order your food for you," mother said with a kind smile. If she didn't know me so well, I'd be upset but she knows me pretty damn well.

"Thank you," I said, returning the smile.

"So, Liliana, what is this important thing you wanted to discuss with us?" Father asking, only playing the part of the interested father. Don't get me wrong, he cares for me and wants what he thinks is best for me. But he isn't the best father around if you are picking up what I'm laying down.

"Oh," I said. I wasn't expecting to talk about it as soon as I got here.

"I was accepted into culinary school in Sicily, Italy," I said, looking at my mother first and then my father.

"Well, that's fantastic, but I thought we all agreed on you going to school here in Paris," mother said sipping on her wine.

"No that's what you guys decided on," I mumbled under my breath. I had already decided I am going to Italy, that was finalized on the car ride here.

"What was that," father asked, I couldn't quite read his facial expression just yet.

"Nothing," I said, as nicely as possible. I wish I too had a glass of wine for this conversation.

"No what did you say?" He asked, this time you could tell he was mad, "what did you mumble under your breath?" I could already tell that he was going to blow this out of the water. I looked down and fiddled with my fingers, he's anger always gets the best of him.

"Liliana Roxelle, what the fuck did you say under your fucking breath?" He asked, his voice getting louder.

"Hugo, calm down. Remember we are in public," mother said, looking at him and then the people around us who are starting to look. My father could care less about who is watching the scene in front of them unfold.

"I won't ask again, what did you say?" He asked, I could feel my cheeks starting to warm up and tears began to form in my eyes.

"I said I'm going to Italy," I said, looking him dead in the eye.

"Italy? Yeah, I don't think so. You are not going to Italy," he said as if this was some kind of joke to him.

"I'm twenty-three father, I have let you both convince me to stay in the house with you but I'm getting tired of it. I want to be able to go do what I want and live by myself," I said, letting the few tears fall down my face. I hate that I'm allowing him to see me so upset but this is the final straw for me.

"I don't care how you old you are, you live under my roof. You will not go to Italy, I'm your father and you listen to me," he said, catching more peoples attention, "end of the damn story,"

"I've let you control my life for as long as I can remember! I am done, I want to be my own person, make my own choices without you making me doubt myself," I said, my voice was slowly getting louder as the seconds went by.

"Liliana!" My mother said in shock. She knows it true but yet she is so wrapped around his finger it's pitiful.

"You both have sheltered me my whole life, told me how I am to dress, how to act, and controlled who I was allowed to be around," I said, "I want to live and experience life without you hovering over me and manipulating me!"

I stood up and thew my napkin on the table before rushing out of the restaurant only to run into someone. Just my fucking luck.
