The morning began with the usual flurry of chaos that accompanied any group of teenagers trying to prepare for the day. Yuu stretched her arms above her head, brushing off the lingering awkwardness of the earlier incident. She gathered her uniform and essentials before heading toward the bathroom, making a mental note to be quicker than usual since Grim and Deuce would soon be fighting over sink space.
Ace sat on the edge of the bed, still groggy but trying to act like nothing had happened earlier. "So... breakfast? What's the plan? Bacon? Sausage?" he asked, clearly trying to shift focus to something less embarrassing.
Grim, sitting on Deuce's bed, licked his paw dramatically. "Obviously bacon. And don't forget the tuna. Gotta fuel up for a big day, you know!"
Deuce groaned as he buttoned up his uniform jacket. "Grim, it's not like you're doing anything strenuous. You just lounge around while the rest of us deal with classes."
"Hey! I'm the brains of this operation!" Grim shot back, puffing out his chest.
Yuu rolled her eyes with a grin. "Right, Grim. The mastermind behind our academic success. Now hurry up; I'm not letting you eat half the cafeteria out of food before I even get there."
She brushed past them, her uniform neat and tidy, and headed to the bathroom to freshen up. The shared dorm facilities were buzzing with activity—students rushing in and out, all in various states of half-dress and half-awake. Yuu managed to squeeze in at an open sink, quickly washing her face and fixing her hair.
By the time she returned, Ace and Deuce were more or less ready, though Ace's tie was a disaster. Deuce, ever the responsible one, was helping Grim adjust his tiny scarf while simultaneously scolding Ace for his laziness.
"Seriously, Ace, it's not that hard to tie a tie," Deuce muttered, rolling his eyes as he finished Grim's scarf.
"Why bother? It's just going to come undone by lunch anyway," Ace retorted with a smirk.
Yuu walked over and snatched Ace's tie from him. "Hold still. You'll look like a total mess if you go out like this."
"Geez, alright, mom," Ace said, holding up his hands in mock surrender.
Yuu ignored him, quickly fixing his tie and patting it into place. "There. Now you're at least semi-presentable."
"Aw, thanks, Yuu," Ace said with exaggerated sweetness. "What would I do without you?"
"Fail at basic life skills," Deuce said dryly, grabbing his bag. "Now let's go. Grim's about to eat the sheets if we don't get him some food soon."
"Finally!" Grim cheered, hopping down from the bed and scurrying toward the door.
The group made their way to the cafeteria, their usual banter filling the air. Students passed by, yawning or chatting, the hum of the morning routine alive around them.
Ace kept trying to nudge Yuu about the earlier incident, smirking like he wanted to make a joke but holding back. She shot him a warning look that shut him up before he could get too far. Deuce, meanwhile, was walking just ahead, shaking his head at their antics.
By the time they reached the dining hall, the aroma of breakfast wafted through the air—eggs, bacon, pastries, and fresh coffee. Grim bolted toward the food line with a battle cry, leaving the rest of them to follow at a more reasonable pace.
"Another day, another breakfast," Ace said with a grin, grabbing a tray. "Here's hoping it's not as crazy as yesterday."
"Don't jinx it," Yuu replied, picking up her tray. "With our luck, it probably will be."
