Then later on, Yuu's phone buzzed insistently on the table. She glanced down and saw the name flashing across the screen: Leona Kingscholar.
Ace raised an eyebrow. "Uh-oh. What's His Royal Sleepiness calling for?"
Yuu hesitated before picking up, sensing the tension radiating from the screen. "Hello?" she answered, trying to keep her tone neutral.
"Where are you?" Leona's low, gravelly voice came through, laced with irritation. "I've been looking for you."
Yuu blinked. "You have? I'm at the Mostro Lounge—what's going on?"
"What's going on," Leona growled, his voice rising slightly, "is that you've been ignoring your responsibilities. You said you'd help me with the strategy for next week's Spelldrive scrimmage. Or did you forget?"
Her eyes widened in realization. "Oh... oh no. I totally forgot about that. I'm sorry, Leona. I've just been really busy—"
"Busy, huh?" Leona cut her off. "Too busy to answer your phone, but not too busy to sit around and chat at the Lounge?"
Ace, overhearing the tone of the conversation, snickered. "Oof. Someone's in trouble."
Yuu shot him a glare before turning back to the phone. "Leona, I didn't mean to ignore you. I'll come by later and help, okay?"
"Later?" Leona's voice dripped with disbelief. "Yeah, sure. Whenever it's convenient for you, Your Highness. Don't bother rushing; I'll just figure everything out on my own."
Before Yuu could respond, the line went dead.
"Well, that sounded... intense," Deuce commented, leaning slightly closer.
"Leona sounded ticked," Grim added, nibbling on his food. "What did you do to him this time?"
Yuu groaned, setting her phone down. "I was supposed to help him with strategy for a match. I completely forgot."
"Pfft, and now he's sulking like a cub," Ace teased, leaning back in his chair. "Honestly, he's got the biggest ego. He'll get over it."
"Still," Deuce said seriously, "you should probably go make it right. You know how he gets."
Yuu sighed, standing up. "Yeah, I should. Knowing Leona, he'll hold this over my head forever if I don't."
"Want us to come with you?" Grim asked, hopping down from his seat.
She shook her head. "No, I'll handle it. You guys enjoy the rest of your free period."
As Yuu walked away, Ace called after her, "Tell him not to explode! We've got enough drama around here already!"
Idia, still sitting nearby with Ortho, raised an eyebrow as he overheard the exchange. "Geez, is everyone around here connected to royalty or something? What's next, the queen of the entire school showing up?"
Ortho tilted his head. "Leona isn't really the dramatic type, though, Big Brother. He must really value Yuu's help to get this upset."
"Or he just hates being ignored," Idia muttered, going back to his drink.
As Yuu headed out of the Lounge, her thoughts swirled. She needed to smooth things over with Leona—not just because she owed him, but because deep down, she knew he didn't reach out to many people for help. And when he did, it was rare to hear such frustration in his voice.
Yuu made her way across campus to Savannahclaw, her steps quickening as she neared the dorm. She could already feel the tension simmering in her chest, knowing full well how temperamental Leona could be. The sprawling building loomed ahead, surrounded by the dry, desert-like terrain that matched its dorm leader's fierce personality.
