Tsuki noticed Bakugo's sudden unease as loud noises from the halls neared the classroom. He sat up in his chair the moment the classroom door opened.
"I can't read the manga, man; I've never been a man of fan service."
"The janitor was totally looking at your butt."
"Midoriya! You can't walk with your shoes untied!"
"Uh—sorry."
Tsuki looked up from her notes as Class 1-A entered the classroom. A few students settled into their seats.
"Hey, it's Tsuki!" Mina acknowledged, catching the attention of a few students.
"Hey, Tsuki," Kirishima called out. He stopped in his tracks for a moment. "Wait a minute." His eyes landed on Bakugo.
Mina gushed with a supportive gasp, "Oh. My. God." She began walking over, but Kirishima instinctively grabbed her wrist to stop her. Mina looked over her shoulder, got the hint, and sulked back to her seat.
Tsuki began gathering her notes. "Thanks, Bakugo."
His eyes followed her as he stood up; his head lifted as he stared at her. She felt a small flutter in her stomach for a moment. He grabbed his papers off her desk and got up shortly after she did, then properly sat in his seat. He fidgeted with the end of his pencil.
"Hi, Tsuki," Midoriya said with a shy smile. "I was wondering if you could, um, answer some questions about your quirk."
"Oh," she began.
"Is it some sort of super-strengthened quirk like AllMight's, or is it more of a speed type like Ida's—"
"We can talk after class," she interjected. "I didn't realize how short the transition period was."
"Oh, sure..."
Uraraka shuffled in her seat; Bakugo's jaw clenched slightly.
"Are they making plans?" Uraraka wondered aloud.
"That damn nerd can never shut his damn mouth," Bakugo thought, agitated.
...
Midoriya caught up to Tsuki; she noticed him and smiled.
"Hey,"
"H-hey," he responded, "holy crap, I'm walking the hallways with a girl—"
"You asked about my qu—"
"Right," he stated, excitedly pulling out a lightly burned notebook. "I've written so many theories down, but honestly I'm not too sure—"
"Honestly," she interrupted, "I don't tend to tell people my quirk. It's not something I like to explain or use, to be honest."
"Oh," he said softly, "I didn't mean to be—uh, AH—" Midoriya ran into a person standing directly in his path and practically fell backward.
"Watch where you're going, you damn nerd," Bakugo said with a ridiculously angry scowl.
"Oh—Kacchan, ... hey," Midoriya said, grabbing his pen and book off the floor. Tsuki half-bent down, grabbing Midoriya's forearm to help him up.
Bakugo stared at Midoriya. "The hell are you even going? Don't you have your stupid lectures with AllMight after class anyway?"
"Yeah, I do," he replied nervously, "I just wanted to ask Tsuki a few questions—"
"Well, she just told you she didn't want to answer them, so move your ass, nerd," Bakugo snarled.
"Oh—yeah," Midoriya said, turning to look at Tsuki, who was staring intently at the side of Bakugo's face. "I'll see you at training today," he hesitated, "bye, Tsuki."
Tsuki snapped out of her trance. "Bye, Midoriya."
Bakugo looked over at Tsuki, who was already looking at him.
"The hell are you looking at?" he asked with a frown.
"You didn't have to do that—"
"Tuh," he scoffed, "I didn't do that for you; that damn nerd never knows when to mind his own business."
Tsuki smiled at him. "Thank you, Bakugo."
He felt the nerves in his hand twitch. "Whatever, where did you say we're meeting for training again?"
"I gotta drop off my stuff at Mina's dorm real quick," she said, "she wanted me to sleep over—"
"Raccoon eyes?"
"If you mean Ashido, then yes."
Bakugo hummed, "I'm gonna go ahead and start training; just tell me the room number."
Tsuki stared at him for a moment—honestly hoping he would have offered to go with her. "J-321."
"Oh," he said, recalling a previous conversation they had, "the closed gym."
"I'll be there in thirty."
Bakugo didn't respond and walked away, placing his earbuds in his ears. She found her feet moving before her brain did. He tugged on the sleeve of his blazer and made a face as he looked over his shoulder; meeting her gaze, his expression faltered.
"What?" His tone was calm and natural, and it made her chest feel warm.
"Come with me," she said quietly, "I don't know how to get to your dorm by myself."
She lied.
Bakugo frowned. "Ask Horns to—" Her eye contact made his voice trail off; he hesitated and parted his lips to speak, "Er—fine."
"Thank—"
"Yeah, whatever."
Tsuki followed a step behind him, admiring his back profile as they walked; she found herself wanting to be around him. Bakugo placed the other earbud in his ear, and they walked in silence together through the hallways. She smiled, liking the quiet he was capable of emitting despite being the loudest person she had ever met.
...
Bakugo clipped on his left gauntlet and rolled his neck. "How are we doing this?"
"When you attack, try not to blind yourself," Tsuki advised. "Try to catch me off guard; start wit—"
He groaned, "I hate the way you talk sometimes.. it really," he propelled himself forward, "PISSES ME OFF!" He drew his palm back and let off an explosion. Tsuki leaped up into the air and landed behind him.
"Do your explosions kill your brain cells?" her voice questioned through the smoke, "or did nothing from our conversation stick?"
"OH, SHUT UP!" he yelled. He jumped up and exploded toward the ground.
Tsuki's body was propelled backward, her hands scraping the floor as she caught herself. "Holy—"
"THERE YOU ARE!" he yelled a second in front of her, "DAMN BASTARD!"
Her eyes widened. "Did he get faster? "
She ducked her head and grabbed his arm, placing her hand on his elbow. "Just like that, I could have snapped your arm in half."
"DON'T UNDERESTIMATE—" he yelled, exploding up into the air right next to both of them, "IDIOT!"
The explosion caused Tsuki's hearing to fade into a ringing. "Did he really hit himself too with that? "
He stumbled backward before looking up at her from his hair with a smile. "USE IT!"
He propelled himself forward and exploded himself into a circle, clouding her eyes with smoke. Tsuki couldn't hear, and she couldn't defend herself properly either. She looked up, and a glowing palm was directly in front of her face.
Bakugo's voice was faint in her ears, "HOWITZER IMMMMPAAACT!"
