"𝚆𝚒𝚕𝚕 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚒𝚌𝚒𝚙𝚊𝚝𝚎 𝚒𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚐𝚊𝚖𝚎?"

𝚈𝚎𝚜 | 𝙽𝚘

The once-vibrant hum of the market dimmed unnaturally, leaving an unsettling stillness in its wake. She glanced around, searching for some sign that others noticed her unease, but the world carried on, oblivious. The device in her hand feeling heavier than before as she stared back at the words.

It was just her and the pulsating display.

"The hell?" (Y/n) blurted out, voice coming louder than intended.

Phones aren't supposed to... do that. Right? And game? What game? She didn't remember signing up for anything online, much less anything shady. Her mind raced through possibilities. Was it a virus? A hack? No, that didn't add up.

Anyways. It mattered little which were the principal root cause for such odd phenomenon, there were still two options that stared back at her at the end of the day, somehow carrying an inexplicable weight. A heavy feeling akin to facing a monumental, life-changing decision.

As if the very notion that one would believe this to be a simple and mediocre glitch was laughable.

"T-that's ridiculous," (Y/n) muttered as she shook her head. She really needed to calm down. She'd been constantly on edge over every little thing lately. This was probably her paranoia spiraling out of control.

Yes, that could only be right.

Taking a deep breath, she tried to turn her phone off and reboot it, hoping that would fix the issue and get rid of whatever that had hijacked her system.

Keyword being tried. Not a single change was to be seen on the screen.

Sighing in frustration when she received no result despite having repeated the operation all over again and again.

She was running out of ideas.

What else could she do to get rid of this?

She stared down at her phone in deep contemplation, a single idea sparking in her mind. Probably not a good one and very probably the worst possible decision to make but...

What if she were to press on something?

Her finger did not hesitate before directly going to the option 𝙽𝚘, clicking with great resolve.

"..."

She slumped: No change whatsoever once again.

'Ah yes. Of course. The illusion of choice.' (Y/n) facepalmed, eyes empty yet filled with judgment.

This scam game like ad was proving itself to be really persistent, however: so was she.

She clicked, pressed, aggressively and repeatedly spammed the no button until her fingers started to burn. But a small failure like this one wasn't going to make her back down no matter what!-

It didn't take her long before she gave up.

She might be persistent but not that persistent and it wasn't like she was getting an achievement or a bonus cookie out of it.
