The saying goes, "The brightest smiles hide the deepest scars." After last night's conversation with Riya, it is etched deeper into my soul..

She has always been the light in our group—the one whose laughter could sweep away any storm. But beneath that charming exterior lies a world of pain she has buried so deep, none of us dared to cross the boundary she silently drew around her past. Until now.

Sleep has always been my fortress. I've never let anyone or anything steal it from me. Yet, here I am, staring at the ceiling, my mind racing with thoughts of her story and the silent plea in her eyes.

Riya is asleep beside me, her breathing steady, her face peaceful. The sight stirs something fierce in me. A vow forms unbidden: I will stand by her. Protect her. Even if she agrees to something out of misplaced gratitude, I'll stop her. No matter the cost.

The clock strikes seven, and sunlight streams into the room, golden and warm. But the brightness does little to thaw the cold determination in my chest. I force myself up, ready to face the day, and head to the garden. I know exactly who I need.

And there he is—Abhimanyu.

He's seated amidst the lush greenery, his frame relaxed but exuding an effortless dominance and nonchalant arrogance that irritates me and draws me in all at once. The man's presence alone feels like a challenge—a storm brewing beneath the surface of his calm.

We met as strangers at Aarohi's wedding, and since then, he's been an enigma. One moment he speaks of some mysterious "His Girl" he can't stop thinking about, and the next, his gaze lingers on me with a heat that leaves me questioning everything.

I push the confusion aside and approach him.

"Good morning, Abhimanyu," I greet.

His dark eyes flicker to me, a smirk curling his lips. "Well, well. The princess can wake up early. Wonders never cease."

I roll my eyes. "Situations demand it."

"Join me for tea?" he offers, his voice smooth, inviting.

"No," I reply quickly. "But I need to talk to you."

He arches a brow, leaning back in his chair. "You? Wanting to talk to me? Now that's new."

I sigh. "Do you have to make things difficult?"
