"The one that hit your.. our mom?" I ask.
"Yes." Tony nods his head once in confirmation. "My father, not wanting to clean up the mess left you at an orphanage for strange and troubled kids."
"Sounds like a shitty netflix show," I say.
"Mhm. That's where you were until you got on SHIELD's radar, and here you are now."
"What do you think the energy did?" I ask.
"We don't know," he says.
"Could it give someone powers?" I ask.
"Well the way your birth was described to me, maybe," he says. "But if you've never known you had the powers why bring this up now?" He asks.
"When I fell it felt like something broke my fall, which is probably why I didn't die." I tell him. Tony nods.
"Can I?" He pricks my finger without waiting for a response and puts my blood in a glass tube. "Dr Banner and I will run some tests." I nod and leave the lab feeling a strange sense of dread.
I go back to the kitchen and sit at the table, finishing both my now barely hot tea and orange slices. I turn my head and see the rest of the team filing into the room. Lokis still in the chair I left him in, but water is in the coffee maker. I mouth a thank you to him and he shrugs.
Thor hands me a coffee and a croissant. "I made it just how you like it," he says referring to the coffee. "The french swirly bread is for the pills Banner wants you to take," I smile and thank him. I take a few bites of the croissant and take a sip of coffee.
"Where are they?" I ask.
"Where are what?" Thor asks genuinely confused.
"The pills?"
"Oh! Yeah! I don't know," he says and I laugh at his response. Bruce comes in shortly with an assortment of white and red pills. I take them from him and down them with a sip of coffee.
Thor picks me up and places me on the couch. I watch Loki glare and him with a touch of jealousy in his expression. I shoot him a confused look and he just looks away from us. Thor grabs my food, coffee, and crutches.
"Thank you," I say and yawn. "Man, I'm tired."
"You slept fine last night," Loki says making me stare at him. Everyone else's head turns, and Thor almost growls with jealousy. "She snores, loud," Loki recovers from his earlier statement.
"She doesn't," Thor says, not feeling awkward after the bomb he dropped a little while ago. Natasha laughs while Loki's gaze hardens. I watch the two glare at each other, my eyes flickering with flashes of amusement.
"This is too much," Steve says grinning, holding back a laugh. I motion for Thor to sit next to me. When he does, I put my hand on his knee.
"Calm down," I tell him with a pointed glare. Thor rolls his eyes. "You two are acting like highschool girls," I tell them.
"Oh please," Loki says scoffing. I point at both of them. Loki closes his mouth and Thor slumps back in defeat.
"Good," I say while slumping back. Thor rests his arm on the back of the couch, his fingers just barely grazing my shoulder. "What are you doing?"
"He's not good for you," Thor says to me and I roll my eyes. "You know when I was eight.." he tells me the snake story he's told me multiple times before.
"Well lucky for me I'm not that interested in snakes," I say, accidentally and unintentionally letting it slip that I think Loki is good for me.
Loki smirk is unmistakable as it crosses his face, same with Thor's glare as it crosses over his. Natasha and Steve are watching me, Tony and Bruce are watching Thor, and I look at Loki.
"She has powers!" Thor yells.
"Dick," I mumble.
"Yes I have one, you've complimented it," Thor says proud of himself. I blush lightly out of embarrassment and hide my face in my hands. There's no way he just said that.
"I know," Tony says. When everyone stares at him he begins to explain.
"We should train her to use them," Steve says. Bruce nods.
"Today's our lazy day," I tell them. "Plus I'm still injured." I grab my crutches and try to leave the room angrily. I doubt it's working, I probably just look dumb. I hear Tony laughing behind me. I flip him off and continue to struggle to my room.
As I waddle away I hear everyone talking about the "power" I posses. I hear footsteps behind me. I stop and turn around to see Nat walking up to me.
"What the hell was that?" She asks me as she follows me to my room.
"I don't even know."
"You and Thor is defiantly something," she laughs and I sigh.
"I was bored. It lasted like a week," I tell her. She gives me a look to go on. "I was bored and had a little frustration," I sigh. "That was an outlet for a while, until Thor got too attached. I felt bad but we agreed for it to be casual."
"And now Loki's here and clearly has taken a liking to you," she says.
"I'm the only one who's nice to him." I state. "Thor's nice to him because they're family but everyone else isn't," I say feeling bad for Loki.
"You can be nice to him but still have him hate you," Nat says.
"True," I say putting some thought in the way to he talks to me and how he acts towards me. "You may be right," I say still thinking.
Nat and I talk some more about Loki and what's new with each other's lives. Apparently, Nat thinks she has a small crush on Bruce. My jaw drops and eyes go wide with surprise.
"No way!" I say. She shushes me by pressing a finger to my mouth. "Ow," I say rolling my rolls.
"It's nothing worth noting," she says. I laugh loving the girl talk.
"But it was worth mentioning," I challenge looking her in the eye.
"Loki! Y/n wants you!" Nat yells.
"I hate you," I mumble.
Loki soon walks in as Nat walks out. "Yes?"
"I'm sorry Nat called you in her she was being a bitch," I say.
"Do you not want me in here?"
"I'm not opposed to it," I say lying down on my bed. "Lokes," I say giving him a nickname.
"Don't call me that," he glares at me.
"So Lokes, why haven't you tried to escape here?"
"I like it here." He scoffs at the use of the name a second time.
"No you don't."
"I like some of the people here," he says.
"Who?"
"Myself." He states. I roll my eyes at him. He smirks lightly and looks at me, while sitting on the edge of my bed.
"You've been in here before, don't act awkward," he pulls his bottom lip into his mouth for a second before nodding.
"I'm not awkward."
"Sure you aren't," I say while watching his rigid frame. I poke his shoulder and he tenses more, I laugh at him and he glares at me.
"I'm leaving." I wave still laughing. He scoffs and walks down the stairs annoyed, I can hear his footsteps all the way down. His footsteps are loud as he stomps down each chair.
"Soo dramatic," I say.
"I heard that." Loki says, making me laugh harder. I hear him scoff. I know I totally just ruined some of our progress, but it was so worth it.
I go back downstairs shortly after and see Loki playing with a dagger. There's a pause in his motions when he sees me walk down the stairs. I ignore him and pour myself a new cup of coffee. I hear him scoff from behind me.
This is going to feel like forever if my ankle doesn't heel. And fast.
