powerless || Loki x Reader

the first day back

"Well you haven't played against me," Tony says.

"Actually I have," I pause. "Twice."

Chuckles fill the room and Thor whistles. Tony takes out the hat piece for himself. I choose the dog, Thor chooses the iron, Natasha chooses the boot and Loki chooses the boat. No one else wants to play. Bruce left the room the second the game was brought out.

We each get our fake money, in the process Tony and Nat fought thrice. The hasn't even started yet and the tension is already building. Loki throws an unused piece at Thor, which goes down his shirt, making me laugh.

"Horrible aim," I say to Loki. My comment makes him slightly upset as he looks at me, his face a light pink.

"Excuse you?" Loki says clearly offended by my two words.

"Brother, calm down," Thor says reaching down his shirt feeling for the cat piece that got hurled at him. I laugh at the sight as I collect my two hundred dollars.

Steve enters the room with an interested smirk on his face. He pulls up a chair and just watches the game. He offers to be a referee. No one says no, knowing one of us will cheat at some time.

"Tony, give Loki his three hundred dollars," Steve says as Tony is being stingy.

"I don't like handing people things.. it's a new pet peeve of mine," I laugh at him as Loki glares at all of us.

"Oh my! It's getting rather heated!" Thor's booming voice says. I laugh at this observation and nod.

The game night continues with the screaming and yelling. Loki transforms himself into Tony a few times just to mock him.

"I do not sound like that!" Tony yells.

"No, Stark, you do," Thor says.

"Shut it, Point Break."

"Damn you, Stark," I laugh at the mini conversation. Tony glares at me and rolls his eye.

"Just because you're the only family I have left doesn't mean I have to like you," I roll my eyes at his statement.

"Well lucky for me you do, now give me one grand. You landed on my Reading Railroad." Tony slowly gives me the money, making me the richest at the table. Richest in Monopoly money.

"I'm tapping out," Nat says as she throws her one dollar in the middle of the board.

"Quitter!" Tony and I yell after her as she leaves the room. She glares at us while Loki gives me a proud smirk.

The game runs, still, not so smoothly. But in the end I win, again.

"You cheated!" Tony glares at me. I roll my eyes at the sore loser.

"Tony, I did not cheat. Loki did though."

"It doesn't matter is Loki cheated, because he still lost!"

"Not my brightest moment," Loki says making me laugh.

"Why did no one say that you're actually funny," I say still laughing. Thor lets out a loud laugh as Loki growls in irritation. I let myself bask in the almost domestic moment with the team and one we never thought we'd be civil with.

That person being Loki.

As the game goes on, Tony and I are neck and neck. Both of us with one hundred thousand dollars in monopoly cash and hotels on each of our properties. I finally complete my monopoly, and yell, "Fuck yeah!" Tony stares at me with bewilderment as I place a hotel on both the Boardwalk and Park Place. My shit-eating grin makes him mumble curses under his breath.

After a few unlucky rolls of the die, Tony is looking at a very far second place. I land on some of his properties and lose money. The little dance goes on for some time, well constructed and seemingly timeless.

Both Tony and I have ten dollars in our hands. It's his turn to roll the die. It's a fifty-fifty shot of whether or not he makes it on one of my properties. The die bounce along the middle of the board. Tony counts the black spots lining each side. Six spaces.

He flips the table as I won, still undefeated against the philanthropist. I only watch him as he throws his hissy fit. I look at Loki who has a small smirk forming on his face.
