Marina settled in Carina's arms, her little body relaxing against her mother's chest. She let out a sigh, her eyes drooping as the soothing rocking motion began to lull her back to sleep.
Carina continued to hum, her voice soft and melodic, as she cradled the baby close. She glanced over at Maya, her heart aching with guilt for their current situation.

Week 7 Day 1
____________As Marina's eyelids fluttered shut and her breathing slowed, Carina gently laid her back in the bassinet. She lingered for a moment, her gaze fixed on the small, innocent bundle.
Carina sighed, her mind returning to her sleeping wife. She moved closer to Maya's bed, sitting down in the chair beside her. She reached out and took Maya's hand, her touch light and gentle.
The sight of Maya asleep, her face devoid of its usual sharpness and strength, tugged at Carina's heart. She leaned forward, her eyes tracing over Maya's features, taking in the vulnerability and fragility of her state.
Carina's grip tightened ever so slightly on Maya's hand, her thumb tracing soft circles over her knuckles. "I'm right here, bella," she murmured, her voice a mere whisper. "I won't leave you."
The steady, rhythmic beeping of the monitors echoed in the quiet room, a constant reminder of Maya's condition and the situation they were in. Carina closed her eyes, taking in a slow, deep breath.
The weight of the past few days, the fear, the worry, the relief, all came crashing down on her. Tears stung the corners of her eyes, but she blinked them back, refusing to let them fall.
Maya's eyes fluttered open lazily, her vision still blurry from sleep. As her surroundings came into focus, she noticed Carina sitting beside her, a mix of love and worry etched across her face.
When Maya's gaze moved to Carina's eyes, she saw the telltale signs of unshed tears. She frowned, her heart clenching at the sight.
"Carina," Maya whispered, her voice hoarse from sleep. "What's wrong?"
Carina's eyes widened slightly, surprised that Maya had woken up so soon. She quickly wiped her tears away, not wanting to betray her emotions.
"Nothing, bella," Carina replied, her voice a strained whisper. "I'm just... tired, that's all."
Maya's frown deepened, her perceptive nature instantly recognizing the lie. She squeezed Carina's hand, her touch gentle but firm.
"Don't lie to me," she murmured, her voice laced with concern. "I know something's bothering you. Please talk to me."
Carina's shoulders slumped, her facade crumbling beneath Maya's gentle but insistent request. She let out a shaky sigh, her voice choked with emotion.
"I'm just... afraid, bella," she confessed, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I'm afraid that I'm going to lose you. That I might lose both you and the baby. I can't bear the thought. The uncertainty is eating me alive..."
Maya's heart ached at the raw emotion in Carina's voice. She lifted her free hand and gently caressed Carina's cheek.
"You're not going to lose me, Carina," she reassured her, her voice firm and sure. "And you're not going to lose the baby either. I'm going to be okay. We're going to be okay."
Carina looked at Maya. "The doctors came with your blood test results."
Maya frowned, her heart skipping a beat at Carina's serious tone. She pushed herself up slightly against the pillows, her gaze fixed intently on her wife.
"What did they say?" she asked, her voice steady despite the anxiety swirling within her.
Carina took a deep breath. "They said that, from the blood test results, your liver and kidneys have been put under strain from the overdose. They're still functioning normally, but we need to monitor them closely to ensure they don't get further affected."
