Boon Earned Thrugh Compassion

Start from the beginning

The sage, deeply moved by her kindness and humility, smiled. He had seen many people in his life, but Subhadra's sincerity touched him deeply.

"Putri, your humility has touched my heart more than you know," he said. "I, Rishi Durvasa, give you a boon. You may summon any god and ask for anything you wish. You can use this boon only three times in your lifetime."

Subhadra was shocked. She had heard many stories about Rishi Durvasa's strictness and fiery nature, yet here he was, so kind and generous. She wasn't sure if this sage was truly Durvasa, or if he was someone else. Still, she thanked him, bowing respectfully.

"Thank you, Maharishi," she said, though confusion still lingered in her heart.

Durvasa smiled and nodded before leaving with a peaceful expression.

Once he was gone, Subhadra stood there, still thinking about the strange events that had just occurred. She was curious. The boon Durvasa had given her was powerful, and she couldn't stop wondering what it might mean. She decided to try it out.

Subhadra closed her eyes, thought about the boon, and then chanted the mantra that the sage had taught her. The moment she finished the chant, a bright, radiant light filled the air. Subhadra blinked and, standing before her, was the moon god, Chandradev. His form was glowing with a soft, beautiful light, like the moon on a clear night.

Subhadra, feeling both awed and a little nervous, immediately bowed to him, joining her hands in respect

Subhadra, feeling both awed and a little nervous, immediately bowed to him, joining her hands in respect.

"Maya!," Chandradev said with a warm smile, "Maya need not to bow before me Devi!. You are already divine."

Subhadra was confused by his words. "What do you mean, Chandradev?" she asked, not understanding why he was speaking to her like this.

Chandradev smiled knowingly and shook his head. "Ah, another Leela of Narayan!" he exclaimed, a soft laugh in his voice. "You are more powerful than you realize, Putri. Ask for a boon. Whatever you wish, it will be granted."

Subhadra stood there, even more confused than before. She didn't understand what was happening, but something inside her felt different. She was beginning to realize that there was more to her than she had ever known, and she couldn't shake the feeling that her life was about to change.

Subhadra, still in awe of the divine presence before her, lowered her head slightly and spoke with humility, "I don't desire anything, Lord. I was just overcome by curiosity. I never meant to insult you in any way, and for that, I am sorry, Chandradev."

Chandradev smiled kindly at her, understanding her innocence. "I cannot insult the boon given to you by Rishi Durvasa, Putri," he said warmly. "Since you have shown such respect, I will grant you another boon. You shall receive eternal prosperity."

He continued, "Your skin will shine as mine, and it will shimmer with your changing emotions. Your radiance will add a unique touch to your eternal beauty." His words were like a blessing, and Subhadra, feeling both honored and grateful, joined her hands before him in reverence.

"May you prosper forever, Putri," Chandradev concluded with a smile, before disappearing in a soft glow of light.

Subhadra, left in silence, immediately looked at her reflection. To her amazement, she noticed that her skin had begun to shimmer, glowing with a soft, divine radiance. It was as if she was glowing with happiness and peace. She marveled at the change, realizing that the boon had truly been granted.

But then, she remembered the time. It was already late, and she knew that Kanha must be waiting for her. She quickly hurried forward, hoping to meet him.

Not far ahead, she saw Kanha standing, as if he had been waiting for her all along. His eyes sparkled with a knowing look, as if he understood everything that had just happened. Yet, he decided to play along.

"Oh, Ruchi, where have you been?" he said dramatically, his voice full of mock concern. "What would I have told Maiya and Baba if something had happened to you?!, Why is your skin shimmering!"

Subhadra, rolling her eyes at his antics, sighed. Her older brother, who was probably eight years older than her, always knew how to make everything dramatic.

"As if you don't know anything!" she replied quickly, knowing that no matter what, her clever and mischievous brother always seemed to be a step ahead of her.

Kanha, with a playful smirk, gave her an exaggerated "I don't know anything" look, making it even more obvious that he was pretending.

Subhadra smiled, feeling a spark of mischief herself. "It seems like we need to have a long conversation about this!" she said, a teasing smile on her face.

And so, as they walked together, the two siblings shared the journey, talking and laughing about everything that had just happened. The bond between them was strong, their playful and loving relationship creating a perfect balance. No matter what, the naughty duo—brother and sister—were always there for each other, above everything else.
