The Captain. One of the most imposing and feared people in all of Snezhnaya.
A couple weeks prior, you had signed an agreement to marry him in exchange for money. It was simple. Your family was of low-ranking nobility and you needed your debts payed off. With your brother studying at the Akademiya and your sister studying to follow in his footsteps, that left you. The middle child. The one in the background, silently supporting them behind the scenes, and you were fine with it. As long as it kept your family safe and happy, you'd do it.
With the details sorted out and paperwork all finished, you were ready to move in. Your parents had helped you pack your things the night before. You could still recall your conversation with them.
"I'm not so sure about this darling," your mother had said, frowning. "I mean, you're only 19 for goodness sake!"
"Mom, I'll be fine," you had said.
"Oh honey, I know you will be. But you're still so young! I couldn't stand having something happen to you..."
"Y/n. Is this what you really want?" you father had asked.
"Of course! I don't mind it at all!"
You had smiled. Of course, even though they knew you were getting married, you hadn't tell them it was to the Captain. They were worrying enough as is and you didn't want them to dwell on it any longer. You'd tell them after you moved in.
"...Alright darling..." your mother had said before you had retired for the night.
You had been thinking about that moment all morning. Now you were alone. They had left for work and your sister was with her tutor. Your sister hadn't been happy at all when you had told her that you'd be moving away.
'Oh well. I'm sure she'll get over it.' you thought. This was for the best. You had made this choice. And you were sticking to it.
Your thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door.
When you opened it, instead of Capitano standing there like you had expected, a maid was there. You didn't know why you had expected him. He was busy, like all the other Fatui Harbingers after all.
The maid bowed. "Greetings my lady. Please follow me this way."
She took some of the boxes from your hands and carried them to the carriage while you grabbed the other ones. Once everything was on the carriage, you began your journey across the nation of Snezhnaya.
It was beautiful. You had never been to this area of Snezhnaya before, for you had always been busy with your day-to-day tasks and responsibilities. You had never really noticed how little your family traveled until now.
The frost-bitten pine, the soft snow on the ground, glimmering in the sunlight, the cold air gently caressing your skin. It felt...liberating. Of course, you loved your life back with your family. It would, without a doubt, always be your home. A place you could come back to with people you could rely on. And yet, here, as you were leaving, it felt like a weight was lifted off your chest. As if you were starting a new life.
Your mind was lost in the scenery when the carriage came to a sudden stop. Your body lurched forwards before your back slammed back into your seat. A soft thump could be heard from the outside and before you knew it, you were being pulled out of your seat and thrown onto the ground. A rough hand grabbed your chin, pulling your face up to meet your attacker.
"Well well well, what do we have here?"
