At First Sight

I stand and put out my hand to shake hers

"Lili Masters" I say as she takes my hand

"Beth Dutton" she replies

I turn my attention to Lee and give him a smile "I'll see to you later, I'm glad you're okay" I say with a smile and turn to head towards the door

"Oh don't let me interrupt" Beth says as I start to walk past her

I wave my hand and look at her with a smile

"I've got chores" I say, then I walk out of the room.

As I walk down the hospital halls, I can't help but smile. Knowing now that Lee is okay and just a little bit electronically challenged...

The week that my sister is home for goes by quickly. Too quickly. She and I went on rides every morning to check on the herd, then we would go our separate ways so I could visit Lee in the hospital. 

Today is the day he gets released and he insisted on having me over for dinner. He said since I had already met Beth, the rest would be easy. I tried convincing him to just let me drop him off so he could rest, but as much as I hate to say it... I may have met someone more stubborn than myself. My grandmother is laughing at me from above, I know it. 

It works out, my parents are taking Liz out for dinner before they drive her to the airport. Since it is a couple hours away and her flight is so late, they are staying at a hotel in the city. This means I do not have to worry about what time I get home tonight. 

Yes I am a 25 year old woman who has to hide the fact that she's going on dates. It pathetic. 

I walk into the hospital wearing a long green sundress and my cowboy boots with my curly bangs out and the rest of the hair in a half up half down manner. I wasn't sure what to wear to this "dinner".  

"Hey hon, he's ready for you. He has a packet of instructions to go home with, along with some prescriptions to pick up at the pharmacy" the woman at the nursing station says with a smile. 

"Thank you" I reply 

I walk up to his room and see him sitting in the chair watching tv. He is no longer in the hospital gown,  he's in his normal attire that consists of jeans, a button up shirt, square toe boots, and his tan hat. 

He does a double take when he sees me, eyes trailing up and down my body as I stand there in silence. Then he pretty well jumps up out of the chair and turns off the tv. 

"Here to pick up a handsome cowboy, have you seen one anywhere?" I ask as I walk in the room

With a chuckle, he grabs the back of my head and gently pulls me toward him in a hug. Before we part, he leaves a small kiss on my temple and says "You look beautiful, Red"

With that, we walk out of the hospital hand in hand. 

He walks to the drivers side of the truck with me and opens my door to let me in, I give him a look but then I jump in. He closes the door and walks over to his side of the truck and slides in. 

I throw the shifter in neutral and pump the gas 3 times before I start the old truck up, then we head to the pharmacy. 

I was warned we would need ID to pick up Lee's prescriptions, since he is going to be on some heafty pain medications. We were in and out in pretty good time, then we could finally make our way to The Yellowstone .

We slowly make our way up the drive and Lee directs me to park in front of his cabin, beside his truck.

He jumps out as I grab his package of instructions and bag of medication from the seat, then begin to open my door but he grabs it and opens it the rest of the way. He gives me a knowing look and I roll my eyes slightly.
