The Elements

Simon Black, Emily Grayson, Agatha Andrews and Daniel Woods had just gone through the most unimaginable and life changing event of their entire lives, caused by an explosion in the middle of a forest, however for a certain woman named Maddison Jones this was one of the most stressful moments she could possibly ever experience.

„Okay, I know that this must be very sudden and scary for you guys but, no human being outside of this lab can know about this unsuccessful, so called experiment that went down here today, and I cannot let you leave here without getting control over your new abilities or else you four might die." she stated
„Why would we die?" Agatha asked
„This is not the only lab that has tried to make something like, well, you, and if certain people hear about your existence they will want to experiment on you or get rid of you so I suggest you hide this thing as well as possible." She explained
„Okay, then." Daniel said
„Great. When do you guys finish school?" Maddison asked
„four-ish." They replied
„Okay, I want you here after school on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday." Maddison stated
„What, why?" Agatha asked
„To help control your abilities and practice using them." She replied
„Sure." Agatha replied
„I'm happy that you're on board." She responded
„Anything else?" Daniel asked
„Yes, there are probably other people out there that are like you. I will be making notes and tabs on your progress and also I live here from now on so I will be here most of the time. Oh, and your abilities will most likely change and develop the longer you have them." Maddison remarked
„Good to know." Simon said
„Okay, then let's start with something that should be rather simple." Maddison stated
„Being a teacher of something that I know nothing about was not on my to do list." She added
„Yeah." Emily said
„Anyway, you'll learn how to activate and
Turn off your powers since that's probably the most crucial." Maddison said
„This'll be interesting." Simon stated
„Let's start with Agatha since you'll be easier than Simon and Emily." Maddison said
„Okay." Agatha replied
„I've noticed that your still floating." Maddison said
„Yeah, I don't know how to stop." Agatha responded
„Try to stop." Maddison said not knowing how else to phrase that
„Umm, okay." Agatha replied
She closed her eyes and tried to picture herself with no wind around herself. Agatha dropped onto the worktop suddenly, but effectively.
„That was great but maybe try to be more gentle next time." Maddison said surprised that she actually stopped floating
„Get down on the ground and try to float as high as you can and then slowly go down." She added
„Alright then." Agatha agreed slightly scared
„Daniel stand next to her and catch her if she falls." Maddison stated
Daniel got up and stood next to Agatha who was already sat with her legs crossed on the ground. Agatha pictured wind slowly forming below her and pushing her upwards. You could see and feel the wind swirling beneath her and slowly lifting her into the air.
„I feel like that guy that flys around on a carpet." Agatha stated
She was already about a meter above the ground and she had decided that, that was enough for her first try. She slowly made the wind weaken beneath her and slowly lowered herself to the ground.
„That was surprisingly easy." She said
„Great." Maddison said proud of herself
„Okay, so now Daniel. Umm, here." She said grabbing a plant that was stood on the countertop.
„Make this do something." She added while passing the potted plant to Daniel
„Okay." He replied
He took the plant into his hands and imagined the plant growing. The small plant started to grow leaves and roots started to come out of the ground and hang out of the pot. The plant kept growing until it was starting to look a little too bushy so Daniel easily made it stop.
„That was simple but I think the strength thing might be a bit more complicated." Daniel stated
„I honestly don't know what to do about that, so your going to have to get used to it." Maddison said
„Alright." Daniel replied excepting the fact that he would probably break a bunch of stuff when he gets home
„Simon, since I think that this is probably going to be the hardest." Maddison said while getting more comfortable in her desk chair and waving her hand around at Simon
„Okay." Simon replied
„For starters, can you open your hand without producing fire?" She asked
Simon slowly opened his fist trying not to make flames appear in his hands. He was surprisingly successful.
„Great." Maddison stated
„Maybe try to do something with the fire." She suggested
Simon closed and opened his fist again making his palms light up with flames. He decided to try to do something and started to turn his palms toward each other, he slightly curled his fingers as if he was trying to make a ball out of the flames. The fire started to take the shape of a sphere between Simons hands but as he was holding it together it suddenly burst in his hands. Simon quickly closed his fists to stop the fire.
„Well, I did not burn anything down." He stated
„Yeah, and at least you can stop it." Maddison said
„yep." Simon remarked
„Emily, if I'm being completely honest, you seem like you have the most control over this." Maddison stated
„Thank you?" She replied
„I'm going to keep you guys here in case anything happens." Maddison said
„Okay." Daniel replied
An hour had passed and the five of them were getting bored.
„I'm hungry." Simon stated
„Your body is probably burning food to fast." Maddison replied
„No, he's just always hungry." Daniel said
„Okay. Speaking of heat you need to control your body temperature." She said
„How?" Simon asked
„I noticed earlier that when you set your hands on fire that your body temperature dropped so I think you just have to let the heat out from time to time." Maddison replied
„Easy enough." Simon responded as he spread his arms out to the sides. He opened his palms and they lit on fire by accident, he shook his right hand to get rid of the flames in his palms but instead of disappearing the fire shot out of his hand like a bullet and hit the wall leaving a big black burnt out mark on it.
Simon not knowing what to do looked at the mark in shock and then turned around to look at his friends.
„What the fuck." Emily said
„Oh shit." Daniel said with a smile on his face
„That's a good way to get the heat out of you." Maddison responded
„Great." Simon stated not really knowing how to react to fire shooting out of his arms
„I'm tired." Agatha remarked
„Me too." Simon, Emily and Daniel replied
„It's not even nine yet." Maddison said
„I think it because of all this shit." Simon said while shooting fire out of his hand into the ceiling
„Stop doing that, it's going to ruin the ceiling." Maddison stated as Simon stopped burning the ceiling. He got up and sat down in his chair with Emily behind him on the counter.
„You need a haircut." She stated
„Thank you." Simon replied sarcastically as Emily started to play with his hair.
Simon let out air through his nose as he slightly grinned. Daniel looked at him with a look on his face since he was facing Simon while lying down on the countertop aligned to the one that Emily was sat on. Simon lifted a brow while looking at Daniel and he scrunched his in response. Simon smiled again and so did Daniel. Agatha noticed they were making faces at each other and smiled like she was looking at two children playing games.
„Jesus, get yourself a hairdresser." Emily stated
„Never had one." Simon replied
„What is wrong with your parents." Emily remarked
„Everything." Simon stated laughingly
„Sorry." Emily said
„It's okay."
The four of them spent the next hour in boredom.
„I'm so bored." Daniel stated
„We could just sleep." Simon proposed
„That might be a good idea." Maddison remarked
„Yeah." Emily agreed
„I need to take some notes on you people and I might run some tests on you so you can sleep."
Maddison stated
„I've never slept on a countertop before." Simon said
„I'll get you some pillows." Maddison stated
„Okay." Daniel remarked
Maddison came back a couple minutes later and threw some pillows at them.
„Nice." Simon said tired and slightly sarcastic as he threw a pillow on the floor and led down next to the wall. The others did the same next to him. When the four of them fell asleep Maddison performed some blood tests on them and while she was doing so, Emily woke up.
„Oh, hi." She said tiredly as Maddison was taking a needle out of her arm
„The others sleep like they're dead." Maddison stated
„Yeah, Simon especially." Emily replied quietly
„Yeah, he didn't even flinch." She responded as Emily stood up and sat on the countertop next to Maddison's computer as Maddison was sitting down in a chair in front of the computer.
„What are you doing?" Emily asked
„Blood tests." Maddison replied
„Cool." Emily said not knowing how to react
„I want to see if your blood cells have changed." Maddison said seeing that the teenager in front of her was bored.
„It's kind of weird how all of this is just because of an explosion. It doesn't seem right. Maybe the explosion was just like a trigger for something that was already there." Emily remarked
„That is actually quite possible." Maddison said
„I'm cold." Emily remarked
„Go sit next to Simon." She responded
„Then I can't talk to you." She replied
„Do you want to talk to me?" Maddison asked surprised
„Yes." Emily replied
Maddison noticed that Emily was wearing shorts and that, that was probably why she was cold.
„I have some sweatpants in that shelf over there, you can borrow them if your cold." Maddison said
„Thank you." Emily replied while getting up. She walked over to the shelves and took out a pair of brown sweatpants. She quickly changed into them and sat back down on the counter next to Maddison's computer.
„You now anybody here?" Emily asked while looking at the dead body's around her
„Not really, just my colleague and my boss." She replied
„Okay." Emily responded
„I like the colour of your hair." She added
„Thank you, I like your hair too." Maddison replied happily while looking at the results of the blood tests.
„What does it say?" Emily asked
„Simons body is producing a lot more blood than before, which is probably why he had a nose bleed earlier, and it's literally boiling. Yours is fine, just more water in your body. Agathas blood is producing slower so she'll probably get lightheaded sometimes but she should be fine. Daniels blood has less iron which explains why his veins turned green a lot easier earlier." Maddison explained
„So we should all be fine?" Emily asked
„Yes, you'll just have a couple side effects and that's it." She responded
„Good." Emily said
„How long have you guys known each other?" Maddison asked
„A month tomorrow." Emily asked
„Oh, I thought you've known each other longer." Maddison said
„No, but it feels like we have." Emily replied
„How old are you?" She asked
„They're sixteen and I'm fifteen but my birthday's tomorrow." Emily replied
„Happy birthday." Madison stated
„Thanks." Emily replied
„Are you and Simon dating?" Maddison asked
„What? No." Emily responded surprised
„Do you like him?" Maddison asked curiously
„I don't know, I'm not sure." Emily replied truthfully
„I think he might like you." She responded
„Why?" Emily asked
„When you started to play with his hair he blushed and grinned." Maddison replied
„Oh." Emily said shocked
„I dunno, we both bonded a bit over our shitty parents." She added
„Why are they shitty?" Maddison asked curiously
„My mom starved me, but she recently stopped. And his dad was abusive and cut him, and then he killed his mom." Emily summed up
„That's shitty." Maddison said
„Yeah." Emily agreed
The two of them talked for the next couple hours while the others slept on the floor. It was three in the morning when Emily started to get sleepy.
„I'm gonna sleep." She said
„Okay then." Maddison replied
„Are you not tired?" Emily asked her
„Yeah, I'll probably sleep to." She replied
„Okay." Emily said as she got up and walked to her friends. She led down next to Simons shoulder and under Agatha's feet, she then fell asleep.
Daniel as a morning person woke up around six and noticed that Agatha was resting her head on his chest so he decided to to stay like that until she woke up. She grunted and moved a bit as she put her hand on his abs. Daniel looked down and noticed that Emily was also abnormally close to Simon. Simon was led on his back with his arm out and Emily's head was on Simons arm as her back was facing him.
Maddison was still asleep.
Daniel rested his head down and sighed. Agatha woke up as he sighed and realised that she was practically on top of Daniel.
„Oh, Sorry." She said about to get up
  „No, it's fine. Comfortable, actually." Daniel said. Agatha stopped picking her head up she lowered it back down, She closed her eyes and rested while Daniel did the same.
An hour later Emily woke up to see Maddison brushing her hair, Daniel cooking store bought noodles and Agatha eating store bought noodles.
  „Welcome to the realm of the living." Daniel said
  „Hello." Emily said while getting her curly hair out of her face. She realised that she was sleeping on Simon's arm, she stood up and walked up to the counter to sit on it.
  „How did you sleep?" Agatha asked
  „Shitty." Emily replied while yawning
  „Okay." Daniel reacted
  „You got any gum?" Emily asked realising she had morning breath
Daniel not saying anything pulled a packet of gum out of his pocket.
  „Thanks." She responded
  „Do you guys feel any different?" Maddison said
  „I feel like yesterday was a dream." Emily replied
  „Yeah, like it didn't happen." Agatha agreed
Daniel put his fingers on top of the dirt in the pot next to him. Daniels veins turned bright green and a daisy grew out slowly, followed by a couple other flowers.
  „Still works." Daniel confirmed
  „I'm never going to get used to this." Emily responded
  „Yeah." Agatha said while putting noodles in her mouth and observing Daniels every move.
  „Anyway, like I said earlier there are over places that have been doing similar things to us, and some of them have been successful." Maddison stated
  „So there are other people like us." Emily said
  „Yes, however from what I've found out there is nobody with similar abilities to someone else." Maddison explained while tucking her red hair behind her ears
  „So we're the only ones with our abilities." Emily remarked
  „Yes, and you four have the four most important elements." Maddison stated
  „Okay." Emily remarked as she noticed that Agatha was staring into Daniels soul
  „You guys where effected by the explosion, but I was in it to and I wasn't effected. And I found out that usually out of all the people that experience what triggered your powers one is chosen as powerless, to train and look over the others." Maddison stated
  „That's you?" Emily asked
  „Yes." She replied 
  „Oh and also I've decided that since you guys are gonna be here a while that you'll get rid of the bodies and clean up here a little." Maddison remarked
  „How?" Emily asked
  „Well all the people that worked here have no family's, in case something happens, so Simon can just burn the bodies, and you guys can try and use your powers for other things." Maddison said
  „Okay." Emily responded noticing that Daniel has been very quiet, while Agatha was to busy staring at him. Maddison noticed too.
  „Why are you so quiet?" Emily asked
  „Huh?" Daniel replied while turning around and leaning against the counter, which got Agatha's attention and she turned Emily's way.
  „Your really quiet." Emily said
  „Oh yeah. No reason." Daniel replied
  „Okay then." Emily responded
About an hour later Simon started to wake up to the sight of Daniel eating noodles and the rest of the group sitting on the counter.
  „Hello." Daniel said
  „I'm hungry." He replied while getting up from the floor.
  „Of course you are." Daniel remarked. He gave Simon a bowl of noodles and Simon sat down on the counter next to where Daniel was leaning.
  „Your gonna burn all these dead people." Emily said while looking at Simon
  „Okay." Simon said surprised
After they finished eating, the four of them started to clean up the place while Maddison got into contact with other groups of people like them.
Simon sat next to a body of a young man and shot fire at him from close up, his clothes burned and smoke formed in the air.
  "Don't do that!" Agatha said
  „What else am I supposed to do?" Simon asked
  „Put your hands on the body and try to make the heat flow inside of them, burn them from the inside." Agatha replied
Simon put his hands on the cold skin of the man and tried to transfer the fire inside of his body into the dead person. He felt the body heat up and get more dry by the second. Simon could feel the insides of the man disappear and turn to ashes. His skin started to turn to dust.
  „Nice." Simon stated proudly as Daniel threw a body onto the ground next to him
He burned the next ten bodies to ashes.
„How many more of these are there?" He asked
„Like, seven." Daniel replied
„Okay." Simon responded while putting his hands onto another deceased person and burning them, faster than the ones before.
When he finessed burning the people everyone got to one side of the room and Agatha used her abilities to blow the ashes to a corner. She opened her fist and used her hand to control the wind in the room, blowing all the ashes into the corner of the room.
„Great." Maddison said looking around
„Huh." Agatha remarked
Agatha stumbled while rubbing her head and closing her eyes.
„Woah, you okay?" Daniel asked while she grabbed his arm for support
„Yeah, just a bit lightheaded." She replied
„Okay." Daniel said while Agatha took her hands off him
„Anyway, since I'm going to live here from now on I'll take care of making it more homey, you guys can go home."
„Thanks." Daniel replied as he walked to the ladder with the others leaving Maddison behind. They all climbed out of the underground lab and found themselves in the middle of the forest, where it all began. They looked around to see trees surrounding them.
„Which way?" Agatha asked
„This way." Daniel replied while walking forward, as the others followed him into the forest. They walked out and found themselves next to a big log and looking at a lake.
„Well that was an eventful night." Simon stated
„Yeah." Emily agreed
Agatha and Daniel walked to their house's while Emily and Simon walked the other way.
