The Elements

It was a cloudy Saturday when Alice Black found out about her brothers and his friends big secret.

A week had past since Daniel had gotten a girlfriend for the first time and his dad was just about to find out.
„Can Simon, Agatha and Emily come over later?" He asked
„Sure. I'll make food." He said
„Okay." Daniel responded
„You've been spending more time with Agatha lately. Anything going on there?"
„Yes, actually." Daniel said
„So you dating?" He asked
„Yeah, for two weeks now." He replied
„Okay, Just be safe, use protection." Richard said awkwardly
„Jesus, I'm a virgin, dad." Daniel replied slightly shocked
„Okay, just making sure."
„That was your first thought?" Daniel asked jokingly
„Eat." He replied
Daniel finished his food and texted his friends to invite them over.
„My dad said that you can come over later." Daniel typed
„I Love Richard." Simon remarked
„What time?" Agatha asked
„In like two hours or so." Daniel responded
„So is lunch included?" Emily asked in thought of Simon
„Yeah."
„Great." Simon stated
Daniel laid down on his bed, picked up a book and started reading.

Agatha crawled out of bed and into the bathroom. She washed her face in cold water and put on her makeup after which she walked back to her room to get dressed. She put on a pair of baggy dark blue jeans and a black hoodie. Her long blonde hair was falling off of her shoulders and reaching the middle of her back. After walking out of her room and making herself a slice of toast she asked her mom about her plans for the day.
  „I think I might just hang around here today. I might go shopping. Why?" She asked
  „Daniel invited Me, Simon and Emily over his house today. Can I go?"
  „Sure. Will his parents be there?" Her mom asked
  „His dad will be home, his mom's dead." She said
  „Oh okay." She responded surprised
  „Thanks." Agatha remarked as she finished her toast

Simon just walked out of the shower when he looked in the mirror and saw blood running out his nose and down his chin.
  „Shit."
He stood above the sink as blood dripped from his face. A sudden pain ran through his chest and up his throat after which he coughed and blood poured out of his mouth. He opened his eyes to see the sink covered in his own blood. He coughed a couple more times and a dark red liquid splattered like red paint across the sink. He lifted his head up and looked in the mirror. To another person it would seem that a pale, raven haired boy with a scar on his forehead and blood covering his chin, lips and nose stared back at him, but the only thing Simon saw was the spitting image of his very own father. He closed his eyes and breathed out his mouth as he replayed the night of his mothers murder in his head over and over again. He hadn't felt like this up to this point in his life, he began to realise how shitty his life was. The only thing on his mind was the four people in that house that night, and how in a couple seconds there were only three people.
He turned the tap on and rinsed the blood off the sink and then his face. He made sure that there wasn't a speck of blood anywhere, after which he got dressed and walked out the bathroom to have breakfast.
„You okay?" Alice asked after seeing the startled look on Simons face
„Fine" he responded as Jackson walked in the room and sat down next to him
„Can I go out later? Before lunch." He asked
„Where?" Katherine asked in response
„Daniels."
„Okay." She said
„His dad will be there?" She added
„Yeah."
„Okay." Katherine responded
Simon shoved a piece of omelette in his mouth to try and get rid off the taste of blood that was lingering on his tongue.
Alice gave him a suspicious look but he ignored it and kept on eating.
„Can I go to Olivia's?" She asked
  „Sure." Katherine said
  „Thanks." Alice said as she finished her breakfast and wandered off into her room.

After Emily braided her hair into two braids that reached her mid back and put on a tight ,striped, black and grey, long sleeved top and a pair of dark blue, baggy jeans with a bunch of pockets, she walked into the bathroom to do her makeup. She was about to wash her face when she turned the tap on and the water started to flow.  The stream of water started to change direction, as if it was trying to draw circles around the bottom of the sink. Emily looked at it like she was hypnotised. When she pulled her eyes away it stoped and the water ran out of the tap normally. She washed her face and put some makeup on, after which she found herself in the kitchen with a piece of toast in her hand.
  „I'm going out later." Emily stated
  „My child, I don't give a shit, do what you want, just don't die." Her mom replied
  „Great." Emily responded
She grabbed her phone and wallet and she walked out of the house.
After sitting down on the step in front of the door and realising that she still had over an hour of time, Emily decided to walk to Simons house. She had no idea whatsoever what she was going to do after she got there, but she was to bored to care. She started to walk and after about ten minutes she approached Simons house. She stepped towards the door and sighed, as she lifted her hand to knock on the door. A woman of average height and dark brown, shoulder length hair, whom she had never seen before opened the door.
„Hello." Katherine said confused as to why a random girl, she'd never met was standing on her porch
„Hi, I'm Simons friend and we're supposed to meet at our friends house in about an hour, so I thought maybe I could just hang around here for a bit and we could walk there together?" She said in a rushed manner
„Are you Emily or Agatha?" Katherine asked
„Emily." She replied
„Come in." Katherine said as she stepped away from the door, while Emily walked in and sat down. Simons aunt walked towards his room and barged in.
„Your friends here, she said that you could walk together to Daniels house soon." She remarked
„Okay." Simon replied confused, he got up and walked out of his room.
„Hey." He said confused and smiling at the same time as he sat down next to Emily.
„Hi." She replied
„So when are you guys leaving, and what will you be doing at Daniels?" Katherine asked
„Probably in like ten minutes, and I don't know what we'll be doing." He replied
„you want anything to drink?" She asked Emily
„No, thank you ." She replied
„You sure, you aren't hungry?" Simon asked
„Yes, I'm sure." She repeated
Alice walked out of her room and sat down next to Simon.
„I'm leaving." She said, after which she noticed that there was a girl she didn't know sat next to Simon.
„Hi." Alice said confused
„Hi." She responded
„Have fun." Katherine said as Alice walked out the door and slammed it behind her.
„You two should go as well." Katherine said
„Okay." Emily said as both of them got up.
She walked out the door and Simon closed it behind them.
„You left your phone on the counter." Simon said handing Emily her phone
„Put it in your pocket. Mine are shitty anyway and it keeps falling out." She responded
„Okay."
They started walking towards Daniels house.
Simon, for the first time in his life could not stand the quiet. The fact that nobody was saying anything was bothering his ears and brain. So naturally, he decided to say something.
  „I like your outfit, a bit different from what you usually wear, but it suits you." He said, looking her up and down
  „Thanks. I like it too. I was thinking of changing my style a bit to this." She responded while smiling
  „You should." He said
  „By the way, we should probably go around Maddison's later. Check in and shit like that." Emily stated
  „Yeah, anything new?" He asked
  „Just a little less controllable than before. You?"
  „Not much, I puked or coughed up quite a bit of blood this morning, but I don't think that's very important." Simon said quietly and unsure of his own words
  „What?! How is that not important? Simon, what the fuck?" She asked frantically
He shrugged.
  „When did this happen?" She asked as she slowed down
  „This morning."
  „God, that's shitty. How did it feel?" She asked
  „Well, my nose started bleeding, then my chest hurt, then I started to cough and then I puked up a bunch of blood basically." He said
  „Does it still hurt now?" She asked
  „Just a bit, and my throat from the vomit, but it's fine" he responded
  „That's not fine, you're ignoring all these shit things that are happening to us. We are too and we should do something about it."
  „Okay." He said as he looked at his shoes
They walked for a couple more minutes until Emily changed the topic.
  „Can you control it?" She asked
  „You mean our powers, abilities?"
  „Yes."
  „Most of the time, I guess, when I'm okay. But, when I'm in pain, or angry, it can act up a bit." He responded
  „Okay. Just when your angry or in pain?" She asked
  „Yeah, I think so."
  „Okay."
  „What about you?" He asked
  „I don't really use it much, I try to forget about it, I guess. Sometimes it shows itself and sometimes I can control it." She said
  „Try to live with it maybe, as a part of your everyday life."
  „I might." She responded as they approached Daniels house.
Simon walked up to the door and knocked.
The two of them were expecting Daniel or his dad to open it, however they were greeted by Agatha as she opened the door.
„Oh, hi." Emily said surprised
„Hey." She said as she moved aside and closed the door after they walked in.
„Did you two walk here together?" Daniel was sat at the kitchen counter eating when he asked that.
„Yeah." Simon replied as Emily took her shoes of. He sat down next to Daniel. Richard was in the kitchen in front of them putting food on to two plates for Emily and Simon, while Emily sat down next to Simon. Agatha returned to her seat aside Daniel and continued eating.
  „So, anything new in your lives?" Richard asked, trying to start conversation
  „Nope." Daniel said
  „Okay then." He responded, slightly disappointed with that answer
The four of them finished eating and they decided to start walking towards the lake.
