CHRISTMAS WAS JUST AROUND the corner, and Draco was determined to make it special for Mia.
The house was already decorated with twinkling lights, wreaths, and a towering Christmas tree in the living room, its branches laden with ornaments that glittered in the soft light.
But there was one more thing left to do—shopping. Draco had bundled up Mia in her little winter coat, her fluffy white hat almost too big for her small head.
She looked like a tiny snowball in his arms, her cheeks pink from the cold as she gazed around curiously at the festive streets.
The air was crisp, the snow gently falling around them as they walked through Diagon Alley.
Draco held Mia securely in his arms, her tiny hands gripping the lapels of his coat.
People bustled around, doing last-minute Christmas shopping, and the air was filled with laughter, carolers’ songs, and the occasional pop of wizards and witches apparating in and out of the shops.
"Look at all the lights, Mia," Draco murmured softly, his breath visible in the cold air.
He pointed up at the colorful lanterns strung along the alley, the magical lights flickering in various colors.
Mia babbled in response, her wide eyes taking everything in with fascination. She squirmed a little in his arms, eager to see more.
Draco smiled down at her. "Are you enjoying this, love? Your first Christmas out shopping with Daddy."
She gurgled, her small mittened hand reaching out as if she were trying to grab one of the glowing lights.
Draco chuckled, pulling her closer to his chest to keep her warm.
They stopped at various shops, Draco picking out a few gifts here and there for his parents, as well as for Pansy, Blaise, and Theo, who were coming over for a small gathering on Christmas Day.
Mia remained quiet most of the time, content in her father’s arms as they moved from shop to shop.
Every so often, Draco would point out something festive or make a funny face, causing Mia to giggle and squirm happily.
After an hour or so, Draco decided they had done enough shopping. He adjusted Mia’s fluffy hat and smiled.
"Alright, love, I think we’ve got everything we need. Let’s head home and get you ready for Christmas."
— Christmas Day
Christmas Day arrived, and the house was warm and cozy, filled with the smells of freshly cooked food and the crackling of the fire in the fireplace.
Draco had gone out of his way to make sure everything was perfect for the small party he had arranged.
His parents, Narcissa and Lucius, had arrived earlier in the evening, bringing along extra gifts for Mia, of course.
