A heavy silence fell over the group. The weight of her words settled like a dark cloud, suffocating and relentless. The loss of Satyamma was another devastating blow in a series of endless tragedies. Tears welled up in Yashna's eyes as the grief consumed her. The world felt cruel, unfair.
Maya stood there, silent but shattered, as Jai clenched his fists, his heart aching at yet another loss they had to endure.
...........
Yashna sat frozen, her fingers tightly clutching Satyamma's cold, lifeless hand. The harsh reality of her passing hit like a storm, and tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. Satyamma had always been there, a quiet but unwavering presence in her life, especially in the times when she had struggled to accept Vishwanth. She had comforted Yashna with warm words, a knowing smile, and a motherly embrace when she needed it the most. And now, she was gone.
She sobbed, pressing Satyamma's hand to her forehead, wishing she had expressed her gratitude more often, told her how much she meant. But it was too late. The hospital staff arrived, gently moving Satyamma's body, preparing for the final rites. Yashna felt an unbearable ache in her chest as she watched them take her away, her vision blurred with grief.
Unexpectedly, Maya became her solace. They had never truly seen eye to eye, their differences always keeping them apart, but in this moment of loss, they found comfort in each other. Maya, usually composed, wrapped her arms around Yashna, holding her in silent understanding. The pain of loss had forged a bond neither of them had expected.
Jai arrived soon after, his voice gentle yet firm. "Yashna, you need to rest. You've been through enough today. Come back tomorrow."
Yashna shook her head, wiping her tear-streaked face. "No. I will stay with Vishwanth. I'm not leaving him." Her voice was hoarse but determined. "You all should go. I'll be fine."
Jai opened his mouth to protest, concern evident in his eyes, but before he could argue further, Viraj's father placed a hand on his shoulder. "Let her be," he said calmly. "She needs this."
After a reluctant pause, Jai exhaled heavily and nodded. One by one, they all left, leaving Yashna alone in the dimly lit hospital corridor. She turned towards Vishwanth's room, her heart aching with grief but resolute in her choice. She would stay. She would be there when he woke up.
The hospital wing was eerily quiet, the sterile air heavy with a sense of isolation. Yashna sat beside Vishwanth's bed, her eyes never leaving his face. Their guards were stationed throughout the hospital, ensuring no harm would come their way. The entire top floor had been cleared for them, leaving them in complete solitude.
Yashna sighed, running her fingers over Vishwanth's hand, feeling the warmth of his skin against her own. He was still unconscious, his breathing slow and steady, but at least he was alive. That was all that mattered.
She found herself lost in thought, recalling the journey that had brought her here. From despising Vishwanth to falling for him so deeply, her transformation felt surreal. She had changed, in ways she never expected.
Her heart clenched as she remembered the countless times she had resisted his presence, fought against the connection she now cherished. He had been ruthless, unforgiving, and yet, beneath it all, he had been the only one who truly understood her. Now, she couldn't imagine a life without him.
A soft knock on the door pulled her out of her thoughts. One of the guards peeked in, giving her a silent nod before retreating. Everything was secure. But the unease in Yashna's heart remained. She knew their battle wasn't over yet.
Turning her gaze back to Vishwanth, she whispered, "You have to wake up. I need you."
The room remained silent, save for the rhythmic beeping of the monitor. Yashna leaned closer, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. "I love you, Vishwanth. And I'm not leaving your side."
..............
She closed her eyes, clutching his arm tightly. His touch was enough to calm her, to make her feel safe. But for so long, she had pushed him away. She had hurt him, resisted him for months, while all he ever tried to do was protect her, even when he wasn't sure who was threatening her. The weight of her choices pressed on her as she slowly drifted into sleep.
Hours later, a gentle touch stirred her from slumber. Someone was brushing her hair with their fingers. A soft smile crept onto her lips, but she suddenly woke with a jolt. Her heart pounded as she turned her gaze to Vishwanth, who was watching her with a weak but genuine smile.
Relief flooded her. She clutched his hand, her fingers are trembling as tears welled up in her eyes. He was awake. He was here.
"Don't cry," Vishwanth murmured, his voice hoarse yet soothing.
His expression shifted, deep guilt clouding his eyes. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "I'm sorry you had to go through what Viraj did to you."
She saw the torment in his face, the weight of his regret. Without hesitation, she leaned forward and hugged him, careful not to hurt his injured torso. She buried herself in his embrace, finally allowing herself to release the tears she had held back, the pain she had tried to suppress.
Vishwanth's arms tightened around her, his own tears slipping silently down his face. In that moment, no words were needed. They held onto each other, finding solace in their shared grief, their love, and the unspoken promise that they would face whatever came next, together.
............
Vishwanth's gaze softened as he looked at Yashna, his heart still struggling to believe what he had heard before drifting into unconsciousness. His voice was hoarse, yet filled with longing. "Say it again," he whispered. "I need to hear it again."
Yashna looked deep into his eyes, her own reflecting nothing but love. Without hesitation, she leaned in and kissed him passionately, pouring everything she felt into the kiss. Nothing else mattered, not the hospital, not the world outside, only him. "Her man." The one who had fought for her, bled for her, and never once wavered in his love.
When she pulled away, she held his face between her hands and whispered, "I love you, Vishwanth."
Tears welled in his eyes. For the first time in so long, he felt truly loved, loved by the one woman he had given his whole heart to. He squeezed her hand gently, bringing it to his lips as he kissed her knuckles, treasuring the moment.
But as his eyes traveled over her, they darkened with fury when he noticed the bruises on her neck. The remnants of Viraj's brutality were still visible, and his blood boiled.
"Where is he ?" Vishwanth's voice was low, but the deadly edge in it was unmistakable.
Yashna shifted nervously. "He's in critical condition," she admitted. "They admitted him to a different wing of the hospital. He's under strict surveillance. His father said... your decision will be final."
Vishwanth's jaw clenched. He nodded slowly, the weight of vengeance settling over him. "Call Jai," he ordered, his voice firm.
Yashna frowned, shaking her head. "You need rest, Vishwanth. You can't push yourself like this."
A smirk played on his lips despite his pain. "I don't need to bother about myself," he said, cupping her cheek. "Because you're here. You'll pamper me." His expression turned lethal. "While I hunt them down."
