Liam tossed and turned, he needed to sleep but he couldn't. His mind was racing, spinning in circles. He felt restricted despite being in his own bed, he could feel the blankets hugging his skin, holding him close. With a huff he threw them to the side and sat up, his breathing heavy.

Two days had passed since the pack meeting, Theo had been staying with him despite the chimera's complaints. He worried about being a burden, but he wasn't. He was far from it actually. Theo didn't know it but he actually brought a sense of peace to the beta, even with the recent worries and drama, Theo had been his consistency.

He didn't like Theo seeing scared, it was off putting. Like seeing a feral animal that could kill you, being scared didn't suit the chimera. "The sun..." Liam took a deep breath, "the moon," he leaned over and turned his lamp on, "the truth..."

He wasn't sure what was making him anxious at this moment, but his matra isn't working. It hadn't been for a while, ever since Hayden left him. He wondered if his mantra had ever worked or was it just because Hayden was his anchor that she had able to calm him down.

Maybe he had to find a new anchor... maybe he already had one? As scary as it felt, deep down he knew who his anchor was... but admitting it would be another obstacle, one he wasn't ready to tackle. "Liam?"

The beta looked up, having been so lost in his thoughts he hadn't even realised his mother standing beside the now opened door. "Sorry," he looked down, bringing his knees to his chest as she approached him, "did I wake you?"

Jenna shook her head, raising a hand and caressing Liam's cheek. "No, I was going to the toilet but I heard you breathing funny."

"Those mum instincts never give up do they?" a small smile appeared on his face as he met her eyes, wishing more than anything he had her eyes. Although he always got compliments on his oceanic blue eyes, he couldn't help but associate them with him.

"They do not," she smiled, "I feel like I haven't seen you much lately... I'm glad you've made friends at this school but where did my baby go? You've become such a young man."

Liam nodded, if only she knew half of the shit he had been through. "Thanks mum," looking to the side he saw Theo's door open. "Looks like I'm waking everyone up tonight."

Theo rolled his eyes and made his way to the toilet, the lights still off as he entered. "How's he been?"

Liam was caught off by the question but hurried to find an answer, "he's doing better, I think being away from everything at home has helped him." Truthfully, he was worried about Theo. Worried sick. Everytime the chimera moved he wanted to follow, needing to keep an eye on him.

"He can stay as long as he wants," Jenna leaned forward and pecked a kiss upon Liam's forehead, "if he matters to you, he matters to us."

Liam was appreciative of his mother's kind heart, even after everything they had gone through with his father he was thankful that it didn't destroy Jenna's light. He definitely got that from her, his curiosity and wonder of life. They were so similar in so many ways... but so was he and his father.

"You good?" Liam looked up and in a matter of seconds Jenna had gone back to bed and Theo was now standing at his door, "you've been staring at the wall for a solid minute now, it's not going to hurt you."

Liam rolled his eyes, grabbing the blanket and throwing it over himself. "Can I help you?"

Theo sighed, he could smell the fear reeking from Liam's scent. "No, but maybe I can help you for once."
